I was under the understanding that they created a new term called “receiver blanks” and just considered the “receiver blank” to be an actual receiver since the courts consider intent, materials & tools to be the defining line between what is and isn’t a receiver. I’m pretty sure the RCMP is not using hasslewander to ban 80% lowers and other “receiver blanks”. I could be wrong though.

It doesn't need to be a variant of the HK G3, it has its own listing:

69 The firearm of the design commonly known as the Cetme Sport Auto Rifle, and any variant or modified version of it.

Pretty much figure that covers it.

It cannot be a variant of a G3 since the CETME Modelo A predates the G3. Just like how the sig 540 isn’t a variant of the 550, and pre-may the AR-10 wasn’t a variant of the AR-15. Also, the CETME sport auto rifle is based on the CETME Modelo C. The Modelo A predates the Modelo C, so it cannot be a variant.

There you have it. All this other rifle has to do is have the word CETME in the title and it's a variant by RCMP logic - just like that .22 caliber AK lookalike (AP94?) that got deemed an AK variant.

Thanks, but if that is truly the case, then why wasn’t the sig/Manhurin/famae 540 series prohibited in may? Or the plethora of other commercial variants of modern military issued rifles?

Can you read? The explanation was posted earlier if you even bothered to read this thread. There seems to be lots of people complaining about the incompetence of the RCMP SFSS, but they really do start to look like experts when compared to the ones sharing their “knowledge” on here.

No your missing how it works. It will be non restricted . We will all go out and buy them and accessories and a year later the SFSS will change their mind and it will be a variant and then it will be banned
