Chinese company Hawk Industries produces a line of semi-automatic shotguns forhunting and security / police purposes, which persumably are based on US-made Remington 1100 semi-automatic shotguns (although this information is not yetconfirmed). Civilian semi-automatic models of Hawk line-up with tubular magazines are sold outside of mainland China under variety of names, often exported through the NORINCO corporation. It apears that versions of the same shotgun, but adapted for a proprietary detachable box magazines are intended mostly to government export sales, as those were demonstrated on several international Military and Police / Security exhibitions. A more compact bullpup version is also produced, and was displayed on several Military and police exhibitions.
Hawk semi-automatic '18.4 mm Anti-riot guns' (18.4mm is a metric equivalent of 12 gauge) are gas-operated self-loading shotguns. Those are unusualin using proprietary detachable box magazines (apparently the same as used in Type 97-1 pump-actionshotguns from same manufacturer). 'Standard' configurationpolice shotguns of this line are fitted with side-folding butt, pistol grip and adjustable rifle-type sights; Bullpup-configured shotguns arefitted with fixed sights integral to the carrying handle. It appears that the bullpup stock is a plastic shell, bolted onto the standard receiver.

Why can't Canada ammo order these in? There from the same company as the grizzly.

They need to import large mags for the pump action first ;)

Well given that its stated they use the same mag, then the RCMP would force those mags to be pinned to 5 since they're dual purpose. Would eliminate any possibility of larger cap mags for hte pumps.

All it needs is a 18.5 inch barrel to be non-restricted.

But they should dress it up in a non-tactical, fudd looking stock when they send it to the RCMP for evaluation.

If they could get this as non-restricted, they would sell huge.

Wow. It sure is fugly.

Not to be too much of a Debbie downer but I bet it would be ultra unrealiable.

Why? Based on the remy1100, all the norinco 870, 1100, etc clones are great, some argue better than the remington. The mag fed Grizzly guns work great too, also by Norinco, under the dominion arms name. Short of the 780 clone, I have never heard any significant problems with there shotguns. I've heard plenty of grumbling about mossberg mavericks and plastic trigger components by gunsmiths, but nothing on these. Do you have inside knowledge you wish to share with the class, or are you just talking out your a$$?

The cougars had a terrible reputation. Take an unproven box magazine and ad that to equation, not good results. The after market mags for the grizzly mags sucked lets throw these in there also. Semi auto shot guns are unreliable in the first place. This is the info I used to form my opinion.

There isn't anything wrong with the Chinese guns. I'm glad we have the option to buy them. I also think they get new shooters into the sport and that is great.

Calling me a troll because I have an opinion is very mature ... If I needed a gun, a cheap Chinese semi auto shot gun is way down on my listd:h:.

I still don't know why Mossberg and Remigton aren't making mag-fed shotguns.

Surely there is money to be made.

I take it this answered your questions.

Just one thought here. Norinco doesn't make the mag feds.... Hawk does.

It seems it's not "inside knowledge" you need but just general knowledge.

cool it guys, put a wood stock on it, send it to the rcmp get it approved, then we can see if its reliable, then if you dont like the stock you can change it.

personally i like the looks, and would be willing to shell out $300-$400 to play with one
