But since it's a post 1947 design (5.56mm) it wouln't be covered by the same belt length exemption as the older guns such as the 1919, M2, MG34, MG42, etc.

It would be limited to use 5 rounds "belts" (or pieces of belt). Kinds of defeat the purpose of a belt-fed gun.

I'd be a wee bit skeptical of a chinese M249 design performing overly well with STANAG magazines.

I don't know about the M249 but I know the C9 can. Make a semi-auto version of that and use Beowulf mags

That's asking an awful lot don't ya think? Save the fingers, load 5 in a magazine in half the time! Plus you might not slam the feed cover down on your hand trying to hold a 5 round strip in place lol

Correction. If you're referring to the variant with the side folding C8 style stock, rails forward of the handgrip and finished in green then I think you mean C9A2.
