semi-auto M249 Saw by Norinco

But since it's a post 1947 design (5.56mm) it wouln't be covered by the same belt length exemption as the older guns such as the 1919, M2, MG34, MG42, etc.

It would be limited to use 5 rounds "belts" (or pieces of belt). Kinds of defeat the purpose of a belt-fed gun.

I'd be a wee bit skeptical of a chinese M249 design performing overly well with STANAG magazines.

But damn . . . if it were a reality: I'd sell my soul to make sure I got one.

Ive said it before, what I wouldnt give to have my C9 back.

I wouldnt care if I could only run 5 round belts, I'd be happy haha. Obviously using a magazine would be a nice touch and make it simpler.

Ya, because it would be impossible to relink 5 round belts together;)

we find it only sucks on blanks. live we have little issue. They are the C9A3 though.

Correction. If you're referring to the variant with the side folding C8 style stock, rails forward of the handgrip and finished in green then I think you mean C9A2.
