Semi Auto MG-34??

In response to Claven 2's pictures of that beutiful MG 34, If anyone is interested in it's history the picture of the barrel jacket extension on his mg-34 indicates it is manufactured by Waffenwerke Brunn AG, Werk Brunn or "Brno" in Czechoslovakia. This company was the last maker of the MG-34. The MG -42 was in production by then, but they needed to keep the MG-34 in production because they were needed for use in armoured vehicles and concrete fortifications and the MG-42 was unsuitable for these applications for some reason. Plus there was still lots of MG-34's still in use and a supply of parts was needed. It seems that these MG-34's are the most common. All this information comes from the Collector's grade publication titled "German Universal Machineguns, which is a must have for collectors of these guns. The book is very expensive, but worth it.

One thing that has always baffled me is the fact that it seems MG 42's (when you find them for sale) are higher priced that the MG-34s most of the time. The MG-34 took way more time to make (machining vs stamping) and the MG-42 took about half the time to make. There is way more quality and machining that goes into making an MG 34. Not sure right now how many of each were made so maybe that has something to do with it? Anyone have any input on that?

I would be interested in such a book. I wish I had one.

ROBBS;
"Does Marstar not update their website on purpose just to tease people or what?"

Although we have a full time photographer/webmaster on staff he is kept VERY busy....

What are you suggesting instead of simply marking "sold out"?
Should we remove the item from the site ? Then replace it once we get delivery ?

Or better yet, perhaps you might suggest how we can obtain accurate and timely delivery schedules from producers ?

While you are figuring out the above issues perhaps you could also advise me on how to get accurate timetables and delivery schedules from in country transport companies, transit transport, and sea going as well....

Almost forgot, so we will know when to remove or replace items on the site, would you PLEASE advise us on how to get some accurate scheduling for export permits, transit permits, port loading permits, import documentation, timely viewing and clearance by Canada Customs....

ALL of the above would be greatly appreciated, we are prepared to pay you for your knowledge and information.

Looking forward to your replies
John

Have you though about getting an inventory system? Like having a shopping cart? It might be a little expensive initially, but I am sure it will save a lot of head aches in the future.

For delivery times, why not just have a news section that tells when it comes in? I check Wolverine's news often.

Ill take a Browning 1919A4 w. tripod in a 7.62x51 as payment :D :50cal:

but seriously I think a e-commerce shopping cart with an encrypted page for entering Credit card numb ers would be awesome.

Here's some more eye candy for you Mg 34 lovers

how were you able to adapt the post war mg3 tripod for the mg34? i had one of those nice H+K tripods for my Mg42 it was a blast to shoot the gun from it ...i would love to have a WW2 tripod for my mg34 but can't find one

The German Universal Machine Gun book by Folke Myrvang states that the Lafette mount for the MG-34 does not differ much from the MG-42 Lafette, except the mounting system for the gun is different along with the trigger activation parts. I think the old MG-34 Lafettes would be VERY expensive even if you could find one.

Marstar has an original WW 2 Lafette mount for sale for $3500. Anyone looking for an adapter to go from the post-war Lafette mounts now available to mount their MG-34's might be able to PM Moparlover on this sight he knows were to get them, sure he would be glad to help you out. I am going to make my own adapter.

this is the part you need if you want to mount a mg34 to a post war mg3 tripod. It was for sale on gunbroker for 150

i got more pics of mg34 if anyone want them up i will upload

OK Drachenblut sounds like a deal. Anyone notice that the MG on the post-war Lafette in the picture I posted does NOT have the mounting adapter or trigger adapter? think I am going to make one out of hard maple so I have a pattern to take to my machinst buddy. It's not like I will be able to ever fire it, so not even sure if I will go to the trouble to make the steel one. The trigger adapter will be the hard part, but anything can be done with patience and time.

changing barrel on post-war lafette mount

How do you do a barrel change on that tripod?

The Universal Machine Gun book says you have to undo the front mounting bracket on the Lafette to change barrels on the MG-34, so guess you have to take it right out of the tripod to change it. Never really tried it on mine as it never gets hot enough!

any line on one for mg34? or another 42?

Talked to a guy the other night on the phone who has a pretty nice website called mp44collector.com. Had a really nice chat and he is a fellow collector like us. His sight is under construction, but he has a for sale and wanted section where you could post an ad for free. perhaps you could ask him to post an ad to look for an AA mount for your gun? I am sure the mounts are out there.
