semi auto MG34

my body as one and he add alot of trouble with it at the begginnig. But over all its nice when you can get it to work properly. Oh yeah the trigger pull is awfull.
 
Ya I got One, Its a blast to shoot although the trigger pull is about 30 Pound's!!!(two finger's!) good thing they made them with a dual trig!
And it doesnt like soft tip ammo much, I ran some Igman 170gr & 198gr through it and the SP hangs up on the way into the chamber ,slowing the bolt down enough so it wont engage fully, and it beats the hell out of the brass cases when it ejects them!
I found the rear of the receiver where the bolt handle enters to be a little thin and I tore about 1/8 of an inch of metal off while assembling it , but it works fine though. I told the company about it and said it could be a little beefier their, if they do anything about it, who knows
other than that It is THE FUNNEST gun I have ever had & I think it was worth every penny. Although I am finding it hard to locate FMJ for it , that should cure the feed problem's.
And it is accurate too, I got it to group around 4-5 inch's at 100m (bi pod on table, with me standing)
Their is nothing like shooting a belt fed weapon!!! and I here they are working on a MG 42 version that may appear in a couple years!
Now all I need is a tripod!:cool: :runaway:
 
I had a chance to fire Unibombers gun at the last Tactical match.
Yes, it sure did have a heavy trigger, as Uni says.
His gun brought back fond memories, as I used to have an original CA one. I dont recall mine having nearly the trigger pull the Uni's has. Been a while since I had it, though.

I was going to mention this yesterday, but thought it best that I do not mention Unibomber before he chooses to chime in.;)

I think that I could ring out tighter group's if I fire from a prone position also, but I have not got around to that yet, it sure shreds pumpkins good!!! hehehe :dancingbanana:

the regs say a belt or links designed post 1945 so On my 1919 USGI 30.06 links or A ok isralie 308 links are PROHIB over 5 rnds as they were designed in the 60-0r 70's

so on the mg 34 IF there are links in a cal other then 8mm designed after the war your limited to 5 rnds
 
I was looking at a 1919 from marstar, are they worth it?. From what I've read they take some tinkering to get them working right, what common problem to you run into with them? I really like the idea of a belt feed mg. but don't want to throw the money away on something that will be nothing but headaches.
 
it is a dual trigger on the mg34 because the original had dual triggers.

Pulling the top portion of the trigger would make the weapon fire in semiauto. Pulling the bottom portion, you'd let her rip with fully automatic.

The mg42 did not have this feature.
 
That is correct ! Although I think they should have kept the single shot option on the MG 42, of course It wouldn't have to have been a dual trigger. However IT didn't really matter since their were as many or more 34's in service as 42's during the war
 
What surprised me on the MG34's semi / full auto control is determined by the leaver on the lower trigger only. When you pull the trigger the whole unit moves back, it doesn't pivot as I originally thought.

I believe that the Austrian version of the MG3 (MG74) has a provision for single shot fire, it uses some kind of lever system that swings down to connect with the trigger, but im not familiar with its inner workings.
