Semi-Auto precision platform

I am sure M305 can delivery 1 moa. I developed load for 2 M305 already.

Above is another M305, I did it for a Chinese friend- you can see the Chinese bill with Chairman Mao's head on it. The load is 42gr Benchmark + 150gr Hornady FMJ bulk bullets!!!

It's a 8 rounds group. The plan was to shot a 10 round group. Too bad we screwed the 8th round. Then of course we stopped :)

I can see the powder burns on the paper. we're you shooting at 5 metres.

I don't know a lot about the m14 but I would think the above accuracy claim is very possible. The black rings are consistent with 100 yards.

It's the two shots underneath the bill that I'm suspicious about :p (I'm just joking here).

I found it's harder to work with Semi-autos.

For M14, one problem is the gun is GI gun. So the connection between stock and action is a quick disconnect by trigger group. Nowhere even close to the bolts/nuts on bolt action rifles. I no longer take the M305 apart, worrying the change on the impact point.

In the "Rifle Shooter" mag I just picked up there is a article on the new FNAR being built by FHN, swweeeeet :D. It's built on a Browining BAR reciever with a 20" match barrel. The 5 shot group they show was .45". Not sure if one of these could be had up here though. I have a BAR in .300 win mag that would be pretty neat built up like that.

The AR platform has the greatest potential for accuracy out of all the semi-auto's due to the gas impingement system and its modular design.

Putting a free float tube on a stock rifle can get a lot of rifles shooting one inch groups, put a decent barrel on there and you're laughing. The best part is that all of this is easily done at home with a minimum number of tools, no expensive gunsmithing is needed, just simple parts swapping.

Where do you think "tube guns" came from?

Izhmash Tiger can do sub-MOA with hunting ammo. I am not sure if it's restricted or prohibited (it's a civilian version of Dragunov SVD)

Big +2 here.

The AR for sure will kick the nuts off an M-14 in the long run.
Float a good barrel and go shoot it 'til it's done, and repeat.

Anybody ever played with a Voere M2185?

a_C67.gif

I have the sporter version in 30-06.
It is finicky, and seems to prefer 165 or lighter bullets and at Garand speeds.
Although it does have a tight match chamber & a very easily adjustable external trigger. This tight match chamber is not user friendly for most over the counter hunting cartridges.
(Winchester Super X 30-06, would NOT chamber, 3 of 20 rounds)

This 2185 series of rifles were designed by an Israeli ex-sniper & olymipic shooter by the last name of Sirkis, for Voere company of Kufstein, Austria.
Note that the operating handle & safety are copies of the Garand/M14 series.

The prices for a new model are downright outrageous though.
I purchased mine secondhand from Gobel's in Ontario.

Well if you want to throw mega bucks at a semi auto in non restricted IE M14 here is what you need to change to get .5 moa consistently
Norinco M 14 500.00
McMillan or JAE stock 1000.00
SS Krieger HB +installation 700.00
Change Bolt & fit [USGI] 400.00
Modify gas system 50.00
Match spec break [ream out old one] 50.00
Good quality scope mount 400.00
Match oprod guide 80.00
But then again if you want to spend that much go ahead they can be fun to shoot but this set up requires constant attention

Yup, you could spend that much but you don't have too.

The work done to my M1A was, shimmed gas port (thanks Mystic), trued barrel to the action, trigger set to 6 lbs. (thanks Laz2000) and a recoil buffer pad. With Federal MK 168's, I was able to hold below 1 MOA. Here is a target I shot at 200m

This is the closest of the scope that I have. I don't own a camera or I'd take a few new pics. A camera is on my must buy list.

How do you like the DPMS rifle? I saw the new REPR they have coming out in one of my mags and its calling my name. (if I can ever find info on it)

I really like the DPMS. I just wish it didn't have such expensive taste in ammo (Lapua 167 grain). I'll be reloading for it this summer, so that should help.
