I know with our gun laws, it is acceptable to limit our semi-auto shotguns based on the cartridge length it accepts, so I am planning on upgrading my Stoeger M3500 to hold 5+1 rounds of 3.5" shells. This means for competition I'll be able to hold 7-8 2.75" shells in the tube legally.

Does anyone know if this is competition legal for 3 gun matches in Canada, or does there happen to be any stipulation on max rounds in a semi shotgun?

as long as it cant hold more then 5 rounds in the tube u are fine. i would recommend u get a tube extension so it can fit 5 and 3/4s of a 6th shell.. gives u more room.

That's what I figured, thanks guys. I ordered the S&J hardware + 3 extension (the largest they had), so I am not sure if it's just under 6 she'll capacity or right on 5, lets hope for a bit more room!

if its over 5 simply make a wooden dowel and epoxy it/super glue/ rivet to the end cap. that way if u go to the u.s you take it off and u can use it fully for u.s shotgun matches.

There is no actual national organization or standard for 3-gun, so like Stevo said, it all will depend on where you shoot, but I think most competition-oriented orgs. will say you're good to go.

Beware of the remington versamax tactical. It is advertised to holds 5 x 3", but it does not. It holds 4 + about 2.5" of the 5th rd. They did not account for the nordic follower which is approx twice the length of a normal remington follower. I might try the oem non -nordic follower....but i will likely just get an extension and block it to only hold 5rds comfortably of 3".

Thanks for the info on the Remington. For now I'm going to use the Stoeger M3500 with S&J hardware +3 magazine extension and hope there is no issues (I should be receiving the extension this week)!

I emailed about this to Remington Canada/ gravel agency. It was blocked that way according to the importers request. (will NOT take 5 rds of 3" in the tube).

Ah yes not 3"
There is a indented rim on the tube extension that stops the follower. Don't think it can be removed without making that area too thin.

Ill be getting the +3from tacord
