semi-auto STEN Mk2

Going back to the Laidler book, and noting that it is long out of print and valued on the higher side I think if it came down to spending the funds on a amazing book or buying a over priced dead dog of a Dewat I would say buying the book (one on eBay currently) would be the better call of the two.

Having an inspected and judicially approved conversion is valuable all by itself. As has been mentioned, any changes mean the piece goes back into the Labs for review. The technical files have grown a lot since 1991, and I suspect you wouldn't be able to repeat your success. As also mentioned Hassellwinder's case was based on how "easy" it is to make an unlawful conversion. IMHO, don't disturb the dust.
