semi-auto vs bolt action

can anyone explain why semi-automatics are often lower priced than bolt actions?

ruger,mossberg,both seem to charge more for bolt actions than semi-auto's

Bolt actions generally have tighter tolerances than Semi's. Not to mention that the majority of shooters tend to lean towards semi. High demand + high production = lower prices. Just like cell phones. often bolt guns are set up/designed as a semi target rifle. Increased accuracy over the comparable semi. Better made= more money.

Which is prob' also why single shot rifles in Rimfire or Center fire more costly then the rest.

I was looking at that Mossberg 7000 as a possable choice for a .22.I have never owned a semi- but that one seems to be getting good reviews-even more so than the Ruger 10/22
