Semi Auto vs Revolver: The Lost Art Of Pistol Whipping

Allegedly, a S&W Model 10 4" .38 Spl upside the noggin can give a miscreant on full run enough pause so handcuffs can be applied.

I'll just add this t the op. The reason Ford shot the sword wielding Arab in raiders is because he was so sick he could barely stand. A big whip fight scene was planned but Ford was too sick. Watch the movie, you can he how bad he's sweating

Dunno, some can bring tears to their eyes on command.
I figured Mr. Ford had the sweat perfected.
Heck, he'd give Ole Chuckie a run fer hizz moohlah.

Shooting it or swinging it, when trying to knock something or some one down...Kinetic energy is key...So the bigger the better and lots of angles and edges for good measure...Autos are great shooters but far too sleek...For shooting and swinging you gotta go with a wheel gun in the 42oz range with at least a 6inch barrel for leverage...A good example would be a model 686 plus with walnut grips, full under lug barrel for added energy and target sights for wound channel affect...

Gotta be all steel. 1911 for a semi no doubt. I personally wouldn't go for the fist around the grip crank with the butt of the pistol but a tuck your trigger finger outta the way and side smack with the slide. But thats just me. I agree, revolvers lack the panache these days with all the pachmayr etc for a good pistol whipping.

Alot of guys are going about this entirely wrong here.

Too heavy and you kill the guy, and you should just shoot him at that point so you don't damage your nice gun... too light and you leave him very ticked off at you.

For an optimal pistol whipping, I highly recommend an all steel government length 1911 pistol.

That is what Louisville Sluggers were made for! No firearms should be harmed while teaching a lesson!

Nobody gonna mention the Colt Saa? You can hammer in fence staples with these, nails in the wall for wanted posters, all sorts of things other than just pistol whipping. More versatile.

I have a Dan Wesson with a 10" barrel, you can use it for croquet or putting...and probably a warhammer...

Rules of engagement. Rule :1 There are no rules. :2 Do what you must, use what you have at hand. :3 Survive to fight another day! The heat of battle holds no boundary. If we do not learn from our battles we are no more. Transcribed from the words of Yoda. The little green guy must have had some good #### kickings in his past.

Colt SAA is the classic pistol whipping device. Back in the old west, the sheriff would either shoot you or clock you with his pistol. They did not use billy clubs.
