Hello,

I was playing with some spare parts in the shop and came up with this:

It's a rear sight mod for the high-shooting problem. Not doing a semi-buckhorn again as the file work is a PITA. Just figured I'd show this one off, though.

The idea is to have a hunting sight instead of a military sight. If I start building these, the finger-adjustable screw will get a knurl on top for use with gloves etc.

The idea is to have a base setting of, say, 100 yards, then be able to crank up to wherever the rifle shoots at longer range as hunting ammo doesn't always shoot to the graduations.

Just thought I'd share. Not trying to sell anything; was just having fun.

Regards,

Josh

Nice work. I just wish I had that much time/tools/skills/parts to play around with :d

Kinda complicated for a simple rifle like that no? But if it works, good stuff.

Hello,

Mosins are much more precise than folks give them credit for.

I wanted to play with a rear sight and figured I'd throw a different profile on it as some folks use these to hunt in thick brush and need something that gets faster acquisition than the U-notch.

Way too much file work, though. I'll end up selling this one eventually and if I do any further work along these lines, I will improve the U-notch for better long-distance shooting.

Regards,

Josh

I'm very interested in a rear sight mod for the Mosin. My close-up vision is getting worse and the rear sight is always a blur. I can't return to the same point of aim every shot.
