Semi in .22 WMR

I had no idea the cz was discontinued. Glad I got one. Awesome gun. There was one on exchange few weeks ago. Yes very surprised they are not more popular.

Seems to be discontinued 😞

What else it out there?

Surprised 22 WMR semis aren't more popular or plentiful... especially in Canada with the ridiculous centre fire rules we have.

There are a bunch of reasons why 22wmr isn't super popular. There isn't a lot of things that 22wmr does good that others don't do better. Between 22lr being available in match-grade varieties that are more accurate, bulk 22lr being way cheaper, and the cost of reloading small centerfire cartridges being in the same ballpark as 22wmr ammo costs there just isn't a lot going for the 22wmr. Too much for grouse, not enough for deer, just right for coyotes and foxes but the guys hunting those usually look to small centerfire cartridges for better accuracy and/or longer range...

Basically the only thing going for it is the fact it is more powerful than 22lr, but doesn't have the mag restrictions of centerfire guns. However the novelty of high capacity magazines wears off pretty fast for most people, plus a lot of 22wmr guns don't even have high-capacity magazines, a quick google search is only showing me 5 and 10rd mags for the CZ512 in 22wmr for example.

I've been thinking I want a different rimfire, a 17hmr or 22wmr, but I keep circling back to the cost of ammo...

^CMR-30 is prohibited now.

I have some VQ rifles in .22WMR and .17HMR. They aren't cheap but they are very, very good. Reliable 15 round mags are easy to find if 9 isn't enough. Somewhere out there exists 25 round mags but I have yet to see one.

I believe Volquartsen also makes one. I think their new take down series has the ability to swap caliber barrels as well.

I have used a few of the magnum research rifles, but only in 22 LR. Very nice and accurate rifles. Those ones at Prophet are only 22lr and NOT wmr.

They do make the 22WMR, and you might be able to find one in Canada if you looked. I wouldn't hesitate on MR rifles, but for me the VQ would be a hard one to beat if I was in the market for one. Just a hefty price is all.

Sylvesters also carried VQ rifles.

Vq with a Kidd trigger or if you can find one hk300. The magnum research uses a retarded gas vent, they’re know for problems.
