Hey guys,
Buddy bought a cheap semi 12g (Hatsan). When birds are present and landing he can only get the first shot off, the second shot there is a click but nothing happens (pin barely hitting the shell). When we test the gun consciously firing off three shells consecutively the gun works....whats the deal? Is it something with his trigger finger or just coinsidence it is a peice of junk when birds come in? Thanks for the input.

not sure try giving it a good cleaning and check the firing pin

"ps never go cheap on a semi shotgun ;) "

May not be firmly holding the butt firmly to his shoulder. The bolt may not be fully compressing the spring before the return stroke which in turn does not lock completely into battery.

Test by shooting the same ammo and holding the shotgun loosely to the shoulder.

Cleanliness is a factor also.

Went out today for some geese again, lucky I was able to fill the 2 man limit myself because he was having more problems. First volley he got all three off, next flock only one shot and the second clicked, same with the 3rd flock. We did some shooting afterwards, he fired six in a row good, then it started acting up, I watched the action while he shot and it looks like it is not closing all the way on the 2nd shot and is about an 1/8 open? But some times it doesnt do this.....what would cause the action some shots to close fully but others not? We tried lots of different ammo with the same results... thanks guys.

Crud, not holding the gun firmly to the shoulder, weak action springs, carrier not rising fully, extractor slowing down cartridge, weak ammo...
