I currently own two revolvers and two semi autos...The revolvers are both .357M's and the semi's are in 9mm and 22....I really like revolvers....and I'm considering trading my 9mm for another revolver in 44 magnum...Now thinking of this from a practical standpoint today and the way things are I'd say that I'm inclined to sell the nine and get the 44...however thinking in terms of SHTF or other types of scenarios I'm wondering if that's such a good idea and should keep the nine mill....What do you experienced guys and gals think...Not that I'm bored with my Sig Scorpion but I guess I'm really liking revolvers these days and the 44mag makes me feel so secure...I've had a couple before but wasn't into revolvers at that time. Feedback?

Ok, maybe I'm bored...I have a Sig 226 Scorpion that I'm not using...and my two recent acquisitions are a Colt Trooper and a Taurus 669 both in 357...so I'm really liking the revolvers and since I've had a couple of 44's I'm thinking of selling the sig and getting another Smith in 44...Am I going nuts or should I just be smart and keep the Sig.. Man I hate guns lol
I went with a G22 but mostly use it in 9mm and 22LR. It goes well with a TNW ASR. I like them for shooting cheap. The other combo I've got going is a 45 Ruger Convertible in 45ACP and 45 Colt. The 45ACP is easy for loading in large quantities and for practice. The 45LC goes well went paired up with a 45LC lever carbine, suitable for hunting. I've also set myself for casting everything mentioned. Sorry for the ramble, but its my thoughts on pistol and revolver choices for max versatility.

I was in the same boat as you a few years ago. I had two semi autos and two revolvers and for some reason I just fell in love with revolvers after reading Elmer Keith's books. I acquired a few more revolvers, and with that more holsters, speed loaders, quick strips etc. I noticed my semi's weren't getting much use so the thought of selling them to get more revolvers crossed my mind. I shot my semi autos again and fell back in love with them like shady girls that you can't really date, but don't want to lose their numbers kinda thing .
I'm glad I didn't sell the semi's and now their numbers are equal to my revolvers. Damn this hobby is expensive !

8-10 vs. 6-8 rds, quicker reload/ mag changes, faster recoil recovery, less bulk, better grip and balance, better sights.
Go with the semis! I used to have revolvers, sold all except one solely to keep my 12(6). I think I shot it once last year!

Keep the 9, buy a 44, buy a 40, buy a 45.
You said you've owned a few 44s before, so this isn't your first time contemplating selling a gun...
I guess it really depends on whether you can afford to buy a 44 and keep the 9mm, or if you have a fixed budget and can only buy the 44 if you sell something else.
More guns is never a bad thing, especially if you are buying used ones that tend to retain most or all of their value. Even new guns hold a good portion of their value if cared for. So from a spending-money standpoint, it sure could be worse. Much better investment than beer or a new car. So buy more guns.
On the other hand if you can't buy the 44 without selling the 9, then I say sell it. Might as well own the guns that make you happiest/you enjoy the most.
edit - and Real Men shoot the .41 Remington Magnum.

i dont understand...... why would anyone sell a gun?
isnt that the whole purpose behind having 4 gun safes?
ive got a co-worker who, like me, likes to pick up 1 or 2 new guns a year to keep the wallet active.
unlike me his wife only allows him to have 10 guns.
so if he wants a new one he must sell a old one first.
that is just so wrong.
but, on the plus side ive picked up some sweet deals off him!
as to the OP question i cant relate with ya, im the other side of the coin.
i only have a couple revolvers and my love is for the semi-auto's.
while i do enjoy shooting the revolvers from time to time i far more enjoy the semi's.
i will though say one thing, regarding your original post one line stuck out at me....
if that is anywhere on your radar then you must keep all of your guns and pick up one of at least every caliber.

the winner is the fella who can pick up any round and use it.

I really hate chasing brass and the 9 to me is well....to docile...So I went with a nice .45 if I need the exercise and switched over to stainless SW Revolvers which I love...Right now,I have a 617..686...629 limited edition...next is the 500..
