Looking to get a new semi .22 that will reliably handle the faster stuff. Will be used for hunting and a bit of plinking. What are my options and their prices?I bought a marlin 795 but read that the recoil buffer wouldn't handle the faster stuff,so i sold it off.I take it all the bolt actions will handle this ammo.True?thanks

My Papooses and 10-22's only shoot CCI Stingers, over 5000 in each, no issues and quite accurate, the SR-22 being the most accurate... JP.

i shoot stingers and mini mags out my 795 all the time
true if you rapid fire you can catch a shell in the charger occasionally
but other than that shrug

Well, no, not all bolt actions. If it has a match chamber, or one that's shorter but not necessarily a match chamber, then something like a Stinger won't even properly fit into the chamber. A CZ, for example, doesn't have a match chamber but they do tend to be shorter than a standard sporter chamber. The longer case of a Stinger will likely run into the lands before you get the bolt closed, and you probably don't want that.

The average 22 owner has no idea about shorter/match chambers. They have been going to the store and buying whatever ammo suits their fancy for many, many years before the internet came along. And putting that ammo in guns that were made long before hyper velocity ammo came along as well. If that doesn't add enough perspective, I don't know what will.

My CZ and my Anschutz won't even close on a Stinger, let alone shoot one. Is that perspective, too?

Sure it is. And how did you find that out? Did you take someone's word for it off the internet? Or did you buy a box and try it?

You're not suggesting that your CZ or Anschutz's chambers won't handle the added snap of a hyper velocity round if the would fit?

I bought a box and tried it. Neither gun will close all the way. The case is too long for it to fit in the chamber.

Of course I'm not suggesting that. If the guns would actually close with those rounds in them they would shoot just fine. They simply do not fit. Obviously they fit in plenty of guns or they wouldn't be made. They just don't fit in mine.

Seems like a lot of guys are shooting stingers out of the new M&P22's with no hiccups.
I do not have first hand experience but I do have one on order. I will report back with results.
