Jebus buddy!

Go shoot somethnig to eat!

Me? I'm in denial. I know there is a theoretical limit on how many guns one should own, but I refuse to aknowledge what that number is, and no one can tell me.

So off to the gun show... :D

Umm... sorry to burst any bubbles. The SVT-40 "snipers" at Milarm, P&S, etc. are REPRODUCTIONS. Original SVT-40's with modern mounts and optics stamped to deceive as original.

Jean at P&S will tell you as much. Milarm, on the other hand, lies about it - but they are all 100% for certain fakes.

They are pretty though!

Just take a look at the top rear of the receiver. An original sniper will have a shallow groove crosswise across the top rear of the receiver, directly behind the receiver cover, where the scope mount pin engages. There are two identified styles, factory flat bottomed groove with proof mark and divisional armourer level round bottom groove. If it looks like the groove was done by a rat tail file, Bubba was at work.

All the repros I have seen merely push the mount on then modify/force the pin across the receiver. Remember, just having the scope mount dovetails does not make it a sniper, most production rifles had the dovetails, the pin groove is the defining feature. I haven't seen the Milarm/P&S ones yet. I have heard of some high end fakes machining the groove but is not common.
