A buddy is looking for a nice mild chambering but something that can reach out. He's getting serious about this model. WSS has them for $1459. Is that a decent deal at this point? Is it a rifle capable of reaching out across the hayfields here in ON? What calibers would meet his criteria-doesn't want to be kicked hard but must have good reach. Just for deer and coyotes.

Hey aren't you a target shooter? Theres a Sendero II in .300 RUM for sale in the EE...but it before I do...

Its not for me, however, I think a .300 RUM is more than he is looking for. An older gentleman who is an excellent shot but is rather recoil sensitive. Reaching out ould be out 400 and maybe a little further. He is very capable of shooting that far. How much is the one in the EE?

1350 "firm" for the one in EE sir. If he's recoil sensitive then maybe a non-magnum like a hevay barreled .280? You and your crew seem to be heavy barrel guys right? A non-mag in a Sendero platform (or even a 7mm RM) would be a good deer Ker-Smacker..I would think.

Coyotes and deer at 500. That's what my .243 is for, not offered in a sendero however. In fact your caliber choices are fairly limited. if a 7mm is considered low enough recoil that might be the best option if he really wants that platform.

**edited to add**
As a target shooter I'm sure you know this but, I find the sendero to have low recoil probably due to weight. I have one in 300 win mag with a heavy scope and bipod. I find it fairly comfortable to shoot multiple rounds off of the bipod with a loose grip.

Practically everything from .308 Win through to 7mm Rem Mag will do 400 easily. While I own two 300 RUM's and love 'em, they are not what I use if all I want to do is reach to 400 yards. The big magnums are more appropriate when the range goes over 500, IMO.

The 264 win mag doesnt' kick very hard at all especially in that Sendero SF II (I imagine, Ive only used the 264 in M-70))....But Probably not a good choice unless he reloads.
