I know I have seen it somewhere, but for the life of me I cannot find it now.

Can IRG facilitate sending a firearm down to a custom shop in the US and then have it shipped back to Canada?

I had a C96 Broomhandle Mauser in mind for relining, but as mentioned above the effort and paperwork to temporarily export it was more challenge than I wanted.

Sometimes US shops have a forte which is hard to beat. Other times it is the material they have and have done many in the US in a population of 330 million as opposed to 36 million . In the case you need "stuff" you might ask the US shop for the material explaining that the boarder adventure is impractical (in some cases). Frames and barrels need a permit. Other parts depending on what is to be imported into Canada may not. And there used to be a $100.00 USD exemption which may now be $500.00 USD. I would have to check again

Depends on the brand, I knew Wilson combat could help to arrange end to end for warranty repairing or upgrading when I asked before.

I am sorry, we no longer offer this service. Unfortunately, we become responsible for your firearm and we have had too many instances where the work has not been done to the customers satisfaction and we end up becoming a mediator.

Furthermore, given the current situation in the US please expect extensive delays when having custom work done.

Sorry we are unable to help you out.

Hi - this is for maple_leaf_eh -- and for others who want to reline a broomhandle - Redman's has been around for decades and you only have to send the barrel extension (not the entire gun) - https://redmansrifling.com/mauser-restoration/

I have never dealt with them and can't make a recommendation -- just a FYI

Yes - 100% agree ....

Having said that, I have just wandered over to the pistol forum and thrown out a request for recommended Gunsmiths in Canada.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions !

Best,

Abby

Yes, I know their name and had them in mind. The issue would have been knowing how to strip and ship. At the time I didn't know what to do. That was before more widespread information on the interwebs. That gun went off for sale on the EE. I think I got about $900 for it, even in unshootable condition.
