Looking for advice on sending my mini 14 to the states to rebarrel it in 204 ruger. What custom forms, turn around time. The work will take 8 to 10 weeks. But how long will customs take and is there any problems.

Something to consider, in my experience with rebarreling the Mini-14/30 to various wildcats and such is if you think just sending it down there and it'll come back a fully trouble free functioning rifle you may be in for a surprise. There is a lot of adjustments and fiddling to get the port pressures/curve just right. Usually this means a lot of bench work to make it reliable. I'm doing one right now in 6mm SPC. Good luck, you may need to get that gun it's own passport.

I think it would be less expensive - and much less hassle - to just buy, have built, and then import, a new one.

The gunsmithy you'd choose to do the work could source the rifle and then do the necessary work and proofing, then Prophet River could bring your new-to-you .204 Mini into Canada for you.

Have you spoken to the gunsmith who is going to do the work? I tried something similar and as soon as they found out I was from Canada they declined. Said it was too much hassle. As others here have mentioned, it is going to be a lot of paperwork and could be a long wait- assuming someone competent will actually do it. Maybe I didn't talk to the right gunsmiths but I tried a couple and got the same reply. Good luck.

Talk to a Canadian company that will do it for around 900 hundred, using my gas block and turning the barrel to fit it,but the company in the states make real heavy barrels and the gas block,do a trigger job and bed the action for 800 and do the load work with a half inch moa or better.Just shipped one back to a Canadian and told me how to do it.I,m just trying to confirm the infermation on here.Tell customs the gun is being repaired and do the paper work
