Sentimental hunting rifles

If you like looking at some nice old rifles they are posted in these threads. The pics of these were talking before I had a chance to clean them up, they were taken right out of their gun cases and pics taken, and look even better now.I never posted pics of the others but this thread may get me motivated to. All of my first animals were taking with one of my dads rifles. I was trying to get a value on some of them in these threads. All my dads rifles are sentimental to me because he spent over 70 years of his 91 years collecting, shooting and taking care of them.

I have Marlin 30as. Not much of a rifle but it’s the first rifle I bought myself. I may not ever use it hunting again but it’s on the never sell list. At least for now lol.

I traded my uncle a new T3x in 270 for his custom built mauser 98 in 7mm rem mag. It's the closest thing I'll ever have to "granddad's rifle" but my boy will have that feeling. The mauser was getting a little heavy for him to be lugging through the bush. After 32 yrs and alot of miles she needed a little love. I sent the action and barrel off to corlanes to be reblued while I did all the small bits. I also stripped down the stock and refinished it and made a new sling to match. Heads up if you're doing the same, tru oil has alot more gloss to it than I had ever imagined. View attachment 308875View attachment 308876

My sentimental rifle isn't as pretty as the previously posted ones. It's a remington 710 in 30-06. Dad gave it to me for my 16th birthday...more than 16 years ago. He won it at a BCWF convention. I've spent more seasons hunting with it than not. I've occasionally carried other rifles, but this one, I've never missed an animal. Every animal I've ever shot at with it has died. It's got rust on the barrel, a spray painted stock, and a cheap bushnell 3-9x40 and dammit...it just works.

Thank you sir. Every picture I have of the rifle seems to also feature a dead critter, that just happens to be the one that shows it best!
