I have a media separator - separating the brass from the pins is easy, but how do you guys separate the pins from the water without losing pins down the drain or into the sink and then having to pick them out?

These work great and are at Dollar store in the east end mall in Pembroke. If cant find one let me know and I can pick one up for you.

That looks like what I need - thanks.

My pins are 1/4" long, but only 0.040" in diameter. I tried both of our sieves and a bunch always fall out, no matter how slowly I go.

go slowly.

I love it when a veteran beer drinker gives a good answer without spilling a drop. :D

And Andy, I pore whatever water I can out of the media separator bucket without loosing any pins and pore the remaining water and pins back in the tumbler.

In reading around, most guys just pour off what they can without losing pins, and leave a bit of water in the tumbler. That's ok (the pins won't rust), but I don't tumble all that often, and wet anything can turn nasty over time, especially if it's sealed up. I'll do a little experiment and leave them wet, and see if I can grow a new strain of fungus.....

When I'm done tumbling, I just pour out as much water as I can, and then simply pour everything into a margarine container which I've punched a few holes in. The holes are all made from the heated end of a needle, which makes really fine holes. Took me no more than 10 minutes to punch as many holes as I wanted. Leave the whole thing in the sink and by morning everything is dry.
