Sept 8 Opener

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Had a great morning, had to work for our birds today, no gimmes, not even the singles as we had to hunt a field they had been using up until yesterday when they changed to a field 1/4 mile away. Well we had one flock commit and finish picture perfect, straight in, feet 2 inches off the ground and 10 yards out after some real serious calling and flagging,we pulled them away from their feeding field. We killed 8 of the 11, finished 3 singles and 1 pair, which all went down hard and passed on one flock which was over the dekes 15 yards up and made 3 passes, we were trying our best to finish them in our faces but they left. After a while two more flocks tried the same and on the last flock I called the shot and we took down 5 more to end the morning. We had to get the kiddies back to school for an edumaction! All in all was a very rewarding morning Can't wait to get back out friday when my friend gets in from New hampshire. Almost forgot, I hammered a triple on the first flock and when I picked the 3rd bird up it was banded. USGS website says it was banded June 25/2008 in Michigan, good ole moult migrants!
