** September Purchases **

Yeah, I think he was a little optimistic with that one. 45K would buy ALOT of baloney!!

But I am sure at 20K, someone would snap it up.

nah they arnt hazardous to shoot but they do have some problems!

I think the cleaning rod has a habit of coming out when you fire sustained full auto but unfortuntely that wouldnt be such a problem here in canada

Now i just need to find a rear and forward band, cleaning rod, rear sling swivel and sling bar.

Decent looking Carcano. the missing bits will be easy - try Marstar and Springfield Sporters.

Odd that the bolt is in the white like that - any chance the owner polished it while he was neutering the bayo lug and forward sling swivel?

Is it not standard to leave Carcano bolts in the white?
My 91/38's seems to have been left that way and is noly now covered maybe 70% with a plum coloured patina.

Its not a purchase yet, but have started the process of getting a MAS 49.
A couple of things have to fall into place first, but things look good so far.

Skippy, I honestly can;t say 100% for certain. M91 long rifles did have blued bolts, but by WW2 it's possible the bolts ewre in the white. Refurbs usually have blued bolts.

Problem is, the importers in the 50's and 60's routinely stripped the bolts to arsenal white to pretty up the rifles. they also routinely sanded the dark stain off the wood and made them a "pretty" blonde.

The two non-commercially refurbed Carcano long rifles I have (a 1915 Terni M91 and a 1941 FAT M41) both have worn blued bolts. Were they all made that way? I have no idea.

Oh, and by the way, some soon to be posted are some Sept. purches:

- Finn M27 Mosin (Tikka)
- Matching laminate stocked 42 Izzy
- Non-import marked M38, 43 Izzy

Also, a few more mosins yet to be confirmed.

(I swear... I'm not a Mosin collector!!! ;) )

Also, a nice M1891 carcano bayonet with metal sheath, M1891 carcano sling, Finn M27 sling, Finn M39 muzzle cover, some carcano en-blocs and likely some other goodies I'm forgetting at the moment...

Sept has been busy for me,1897 trench gun,Breda M1 and the best
of the bunch a 6 digit springfield M1D that is all correct except for
the sling and cheekpiece.Regards 375rum
