September Purchases!

I think it looks fine as well. Not all No1 ishies have the square nose cap by the way. Most funtion very well and are quite accurate.

Nice rifle! :p BTW, your sling is on the "wrong" way, it should only show the brass hooks on the outside of the sling when mounted. But some people do it the other way out of preference.

Thanks! I have rectified the situation (had to switch on one of my other Enfields too!) I didn't realize there was a correct way.

My most recent acquisition a nice Webley Mark VI made in 1915. I actually started (paid for) the deal on this one last year but it took the seller and I a while to finalize the deal.

And for fun a family photo. What is it with Enfield revolver Lanyard Rings? Anybody have a few spares laying around they don’t need? How about an unaltered front sight for a No.2Mk.1?

Not a new purchase, but this month I was able to complete one of the scarce M1C Garand sniper variants that I aquired last spring. This is an authenticated M1C Korean war era re-build which was devoid of scope or mounts (bare receiver with 5 holes for the mount bracket). I lucked out and got a mint US GI cheekpiece, marked MRT 1-52,from a fellow CGN member. I was also able to secure both the correct receiver bracket and Griffin & Howe scope mount from a sympathetic collector friend (don't even ask the price),and set the rifle up with a period correct Lyman Alaskan scope. On reading Bruce Canfield's book on the Garand I have verified that the US Army did aquire a number of commercial Alaskan scopes for both the M1C and M1C snipers in the early Korean war period in order to offset shortages of the preferred M81/M82/M84 scopes,so I'm satisfied that it is now a totally authentic piece. For the present it will "share" a Hart M2 flashider with my M1D. I'm pleased that I was able to restore this rare Garand to it's correct configuration and look forward to range testing it with the scope, but without the flashhider which is a loose fit and detrimental to accuracy.I had previously tested it with iron sights to establish an accuracy baseline and found it to be an excellent shooter after the usual tweaking of getting things loose and tight where they ought to be.I have not shot this particular scope,so am hoping that it will hold it's internal adjustments.I have a couple of Alaskans on hand as spares (and for installing on a mythical Long Branch TP sniper should I ever find one) as repairs for them are quite problematic and costly nowadays. The last part of the puzzle will be to locate a rubber eyecup for the M81/M82 scope to install on the Alaskan. These scopes were a militarized Alaskan,so I expect that the eyecup for them should work out OK.Sorry no photos.

September purchase?

I'm unsure if this is the correct forum, but I don't have rights to post inthe FAQ section of the EE.
I paid for a Mk VI Webley through the ee in mid July.
It took the seller a while to get everything in place with the CFC transfer, but that was accomplished early August and papers duly arrived in the mail.
To this date the seller has not sent the gun, will not respond to e-mail direct or as PMs.
I have several concerns. First, so far I've ben screwed or robbed. Secondly, the gun is registered to me even though I have never had possession.

The seller lives about 3 hours from me. I know him by reputation. He is a several times published author. His son, who posted the sale is now incommunicado as well.

Any advise as to what to do?

Regards,
John

This is the first Inglis I have ever owned, I cannot believe how addictive it is.

Nice Pistol. That's for sure they are addictive, once you have an Inglis, you then start looking at Nazi HP Pistols!

Mr. Clark had photos posted of the Inglis Factory in Toronto a few years back on this site. I saw what was left of the Buildings about 3 years ago while in TO, don't know if the Condos have taken over?

Thanks CU:), I really like it I actually bookmarked his site, very interesting. I have to say the Inglis is a sweet thing, and it came with a few other pistols, including a German hipower. I have had several German hipowers in the past, but nothing compares to this Inglis.

Thanks for looking:)

I picked up a nice dirty full stocked 1918 Lithgow on Sunday, I'll have it home next weekend. The wood is filthy, the bore is mint, the metal perfect and it was nowhere near closing on the No Go. Should be fun. It was that or an Arisaka in amazing condition, but since I know nothing about Arisakas and the Enfield was half the cost.......

P-27 !!!

Desporterizer gave me the opportunity of buying his P-27 M-91 Mosin-Nagant. :dancingbanana:
I just HAD to do something, my P-26 was feeling snubbed and lonely among the Tikka, Sako, Böhler-Stahl and other factory-barreled Mosins.;)
I'll post detailed pics as soon as I get it home.

Ross Mk III Home Guard

I just picked up this beauty. Not so easy to find. Bank of Montreal marked, some of the B of M rifles show signs of use, thus it's not as minty as some Home Guards, but the bore is mint mint.
