Hey guys,

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to Joby and the people at Seraphim Armory for supporting our sport, for their amazing service and for the great firearms they build. I won a Seraphim Armoury 1911 Archangel at the 2016 IPSC Canadian Nationals and I have to say that I am really impressed with the quality of this firearm. The slide to frame fit is one you would expect from a 4K$ gun and the gun comes out of the box with all the features of a high end 1911 (front and rear serrations, ambidextrous safeties, magwell, checkering on the front strap and back strap, light rail, adjustable rear sight and a lot more!). I haven't had a chance to take the gun out to the range yet but if it shoots anywhere near as good as it feels and looks, it should make for a great shooting session!

The guys at SA were a real pleasure to deal with and I look forward to do more business with them in the future! If you are in the market for a good quality 1911 at a more than reasonable price, I would strongly recommend Seraphim Armoury.

Here's a picture of the Archangel:

Hope it's better than the SAM Thunderbolt which I understand is essentially it's twin. I ordered a Thunderbolt from Wolverine and it was total crap. Chamber was full of serious tool marks. Slide to frame fit was nothing to write home about. Mag well did not fit properly. There was a chip out of one of the barrel lands (yes, a chip). The barrel link even had a gouge in it. It was so bad Wolverine replaced it with no problem. Trouble is the second one was just about as bad. Chamber was horrible, trigger pull sucked and the frame even came pre-idiot scratched. It went back too and I gave up. SAM quality control has gone in the toilet. Hopefully Seraphim is better (hope they don't come out of the same factory).

SAM Commander Enhanced was an awesome gun, I probably should have kept it. would like to see more reviews of other Seraphim 1911's

That was the disappointing part. I have three other SAMs (9mm and 45 stainless Commanders and a 40 S&W Omega 6). None of them cost me over $600 (the Omega was less than $400) and all three of them ran circles around both of the Thunderbolts in terms of fit & finish. The Thunderbolts were so crappy I never even tried shooting them, just sent 'em back. It wouldn't have been so bad if they were close in cost but the Thunderbolts were like $350 more expensive. Talk about paying more to get less. If you look at the picture above you realize what an Archangel/Thunderbolt can be like if done properly but neither of mine were, that's for sure.

Looks like they may suffer from weak extraction (based on the Calibre Mag testing).

Also a quick Google did not yield a buy now result with pricing. That needs to change for this line to succeed.

did SA ever actually get any guns in and start selling them?
i know for the longest time they said they where gonna get guns in but they where never for sale.

Ted you musta had a bad run of luck, my SAM Thunderbolt is a thing of dreams, and its identical to the above gun just different grips.
(and yes they are made from the same factory from what i understand).

The intent of the forward-mounted adjustable sight is to protect it against impact to the rear of the slide. Like the railed dust cover, it's a "tactical" feature. The same configuration can also be found on the Springfield TRP Operator.

I seem to recall a video with Larry Vickers indicating that this sight cut was created for 1911s used by Delta in the days before high-profile fixed sights (eg. Novak or Heinie) were common.

Yikes, that is a real horror story. The quality of the Archangel I had a few years ago was very good for the price, and have seen many lesser quality 1911's in the same ballpark. What you describe doesn't sound like your typical SAM either.

I bought it because I was so happy with my other SAMs which had excellent quality. You can imagine my disappointment when both of them turned out to be duds (plus I'm out $100 for a Solely Canadian holster I bought specifically for it and which doesn't fit any of my other 1911s).
