I'm looking forward to seeing your range and chronograph results.
Can you give us some details of your loads ?
By the way, thats a nice looking rifle..

Started with Hornady Interlock 350 gr, 57 gr H-322 ( one gr less than max, the Steyr is a very strong rifle ), BR-2, COL to fit magazine 2.6 inch, did mesure the jump 0.015 from the lands, shoud be at 2200 fps ( 22 inch barrel ), would like if possible take it at 2260 fps so the point blank range would be at 200 metres, will see, accuracy is the priority, if i can have both... JP.

I'm loading the same bullet in my 450 / 348 Ackley Imp. over 66.0 gr. H322 but have yet to chrony it.
The rifle is a Ruger #1.. recoil is "noticeable".
That bullet works very well in my 45-70, a good hunting bullet.

I'd also look at the 350gr A-Frames - they seem like an interesting option. What about the Crater and Crater-Lite bullets? I wonder if they would feed well in that rifle.

Most load data for the .450 is for weak Marlin lever actions. I won't post what I am up to in my BLR 450 but it is quite a ways over max load with no pressure signs.

There is lots of premium bullet choices in .458 diameter thankfully.
Just got to be willing to pay, or cast your own with a good hard alloy design and gaschecks.
Squib loads can easily be made using 400 grain plain base lead and 13.0 grains of Red Dot powder.
About the power and report of a .357 Magnum cartridge. You point of zero will be drastically different though.

Not lucky at all Post Canada lost my Talley mount somewhere in a truck, i will know more tomorrow... JP.

Being a rimmed cartridge they cant not make a 45-70 in a bolt action except a single shot but you are right it would have been great... Cheers. JP.

Nice looking setup, JP.
They could technically make the bolt work with the rimmed cartridge, but to do so, the magazine would have to be designed differently.
Needs to be designed to assure that a rim from the top cartridge does not end up behind the one below.
Eagleye.

Good to ear, as a repeater those big bore can take a huge advantage in a strong bolt action in full trottle load and certainly in improved accuracy... JP.
