since I got a whole lot of Bonita :dancingbanana: , I thought about asking first, before going to order stuff.

How's Le Barons service regarding buying firearms? I'd like something they have, but once burnt.....

please post your experiences, so I know what to expect.... No more chicom stuff

I find the best way to deal with Lebaron is online ordering, then you don't have to talk to the minions:dancingbanana: I've ordered lots, and only had one problem, they sent the right package, but it had the wrong part in it. They fixed it in about 3 weeks:rolleyes:

I've bought a couple of guns from them over the years, never had any problems.

Having said that, I much prefer to buy from a local independent dealer. These guys are actually trying to make a living selling guns in the Peoples' Republic of Kanada! That can't be easy. I remember what a PITA it was to lose some of the good local dealers in the Toronto area over the years, and certainly don't want to see any more start circling the drain.

Just my two over-taxed cents worth. :(

oh, I've already talked to one minion. easy trying to sell me a different firearm... Very smart !!!!! or so I thought, then I looked and he tried to sell me something that was selling for half the price the one I asked about. I knew instantly then whe you said minions.....:dancingbanana:

Thank you.

I wanted a Sako 75 Stainless a year ago and I called every single place I could think of. Wholesale, Russels, SIR. Nobody had one. 6 months to order one from Wholesale when they got their next shipment. I called Lebaron and they actually had one. I had it at my door a few days later. I tried all the other places first and will buy from wholesale if they have what I need but I would buy from Lebaron again. Good service and friendly people on the phone.

I have a good relationship with the guys in Ottawa. However, I always come in knowing what I need, what I want and how much I will spend.

Never ordered anything mail from Le Baron, but thay have a) told me they had a spare barrel (20" Rem Choke with rifle sights) in stock, and when I drove in the barrel in question turned out to be a very shopworn left-hand barrel, and b) pointed a shotgun in my face when taking it out of the box.

It's probably far less irritating to buy by mail, but why support them as opposed to a deserving local gun store owner?

I go to the one in ottawa quite often, the guys in the gun shop aren't very useful. I was looking at compund bows once and was handling one and when I went to draw it the guy told me not to as "the string would come off the cams if you dont use a mechanical release"...complete bull****.(i know its not firearms) but my father has purchased guns there before and he agreed they aren't very knowledgable or helpful.

I've bought in person at the Mississauga store and through mail order. In either case, I knew what I wanted, so no sales pitch was required. Whenever I order using mail order, I call ahead to make sure that the product is in stock and then place my order on-line. No fear of backorders or substitutions that way.

I have bought a rifle from the mail order from them, good service from the person on the phone, and the rifle arrived with no issues in 7-10 days,

I would use them again,

Hi,

If they have it in stock, you shouldn't have any problems. The problem is that they rarely have what I want and they are fast to say "NOPE, don't carry these items" then I have to show them the item in their catalogue and they reply "OUPS didn't know that we had these".

If they are out of stock for a particular item, don't bother to order, I did on multiple occasions and they NEVER call back so... :runaway: .

A couple of the staff members are ok but many don't know what they are talking about, not their fault, just not trained properly.

Beside that, they have a nice store and good prices :) .

Good luck

If you have a reasonably priced local gun shop, buy from them and keep them in business. Most service what they sell and will be happy to handle any warranty or safety concerns for you.

Try taking a new gun back to Lebarons for warranty repair! It ain't going to happen!

thanks for all the info!!!!

The thing is, it is only them who had what I needed, so I called.
<< Yes, we have it !>>
- is it easier to order, or pick it up? - I was about to make a trip that had a route close to GTA.
<<you can pick it up in Markham... it is actually cheaper than shipping it from Qc.>>

Ok.... said and done... asked about directions on the way,,, apparently only one person in the store knew how to get there

I got there.... Hello, sir, I'd like to take a look at .... can you please show me one?
<<we don't have it !>>>

- are you sure? I just called and the lady @ warehouse told me you do!
<< oh than I better take a look, you see, I just came back from hunting.>> it was 8:30 pm.... the end of his shift, by the way..

he found it. After complicated and useless bireaucratic hostillities, I got the rifle. Getting a spare mag was another adventure.

I can assure you I would have not dealt with all this if enyone else would have had what I wanted.

I hope nothing goes bad, because they made me a member, :dancingbanana:

I support my local store, but they got a little greedy lately. they charge 40% more  for they drive the latest and fanciest, so ......

That is the Le Barons I know so well. I went in to buy a laser range finder and asked the guy behind the counter to see the Leicas. He said they didn't carry them. When I told him that they were in the catalogue he insisted it was a mistake.

As I was about to leave I noted a white box with red lettering and asked to see it. You guessed it. One Leica rangefinder was inside. The guy mumbled something about a new shipment and that he can't know everything that's in the store.

In defense of Le Baron though they are better than Bass Pro.

.

I am about to find out if anyone can be worse than Basspro....

Funny... I never have a problem with LeBarons...I have had them call me when small items showed up in stock again...they did so promptly and politely. I have purchased numerous firearms from them... always the best value I could find.

Bing is excellent and extremely knowledgeable (Toronto stores) and will spend the time to help recommend the right rifle/shotgun/crossbow etc... the guys that handle the front (footwear or knives) seem great. I have returned items (most recently was a broken connector on a GPS antenna) ... no questions .. got a new one immediately. Same with a poor lock-up on a Spyderco... no questions ..in fact they let me try several to ensure I was happy with the replacement.

The result is I go there first for any purchase... and probably spend more than a grand there every year...including ammo, reloading, fishing (those folks know their stuff as well!), clothing (the ladies are always very helpful!), camping, knifes, gifts etc etc...

(in fact - come to think of it - I have to cut down on my visits there!)

X2 I always leave the Ottawa store swearing that it was the last time. Crappy service, never anything in stock...but good prices. Guess that makes me a whore :D

I've never had any problems with Le Barons. Whether it's been guns, ammo, other stuff... always had fast and friendly service. Maybe I'm just lucky lol.
