Service Rifle Newbies - Important Consideration

While there is a big difference in the cost of match ammo vs. 55 gr. bulk ammo, there isn't a big difference in the cost of the bullets if you're reloading. Hornady 55 gr. bulk bullets are around $15/100 and 68 Match bullets are around $25/100. You're saving $15. That's peanuts compare to all of the other expenses involved in shooting a match.
 
Reloading costs time and it is boring - that is the biggest issue. If I can get away without doing it, that will be the best.
 
But, they are reloading... they've said so above. It's saving $15 at the risk of screwing up a match that you've spent far more on for travel, lodging, food and match fees.

For doing a ton of positional shooting practice, sure it make sense to use the cheaper bullets. But not in a match.
