Setting up a small airgun range in an appartement ?

For some reason this post made me think of the question...If a pellet or BB gun is 350fps, is it illegal? I realize the twang of the spring would be louder than the muzzle report, just curious.

Most cities have passed regulations/laws of no discharge of firearms within city limits and the air gun is a firearm wether it’s over or under fac requirements. —Dieseldog!

Cambridge passed a by law a few years ago.. not even airsoft or paintball.outside of licensed facilities.. didnt even put in an exemption for farmland within city limits.

Depends on the Apartment design. If its all concrete, noise shouldn't be an issue. But if its a older, built like a house ( framed walls, with gyprock )... Noise will be an issue, and neighbors will be angry. Plus if you miss a shot and shoot the wall.. May go into the neighbors apartment. I don't condone shooting in an apartment, after an accident that happened to me. I had a reddot zeroed close range like 5ft, went to shoot 30ft, and shot over my pellet trap and into the wall, and thru into the neighbor apartment. Very STUPID.

You can make a range muffler. Its a padded box that you stick your muzzle in, and acts like a silencer, but doesn't attach to your gun.

most lead contamination on a range is from the primers and or steel back stop a pellet rifle wont give off much if any lead residue

CMP did something about lead and airgun ranges. Since alot of airguns ranges are in community buildings.

Put some #### on, loud

Get an old piece of carpet, put that behind one of those pellet traps or phone book, shoot copper BBs of your worried about lead, get your gf to stand in the hall and see if she can hear anything? I've never lived in an apartment but my fiance has and the hallway was always the noisiest so I assume if you can't hear it from the hall you can't hear it from beside or above or below.

Hi guys

I got permission from my GF to set up a small BB/Pellet/airsoft range in our appartement.

Setting up the targets is fine but i'm worried about the noise.

Anyone got an idea how i could deal with that ?

Thx.

Hey sport if you going to do it don't tell anyone at all no midnight shooting parties . I can just see it you buddy's talking in the elevator about going to your place to do some shooting . can you spell SWAT. put a stereo in the same room and make sure you don't damage the wall and wear safety glasses . I can just hear it so son how'd you get the pellet in your eye says the ER Doctor . the ceiling is where it will be heard . no laughing either . be careful .

Leaving the is-it-legal-advisable to shoot a airgun in your apartment aside.

When I did, I used a carpet lined box on my firing line. Kind of like this, but much smaller and made to fit on a camera tripod for offhand shooting

And electrical putty in the target box

That was with a 495fps air pistol.

Don't have a clue about airsoft.
