ok i broke down and bought a pole set for our 14x16 woods wall tent:eek: the damm thing had no paper to show and tell..
it has a three piece ridge pole ,with a upright on both ends and the center..the wall at 4 feet has 12.. 4 foot poles..
taking a guess here... my first step would be to set up the length of the main ridge pole..then set up height for the upright centre poles...
now what do i do next?peg down the 4 corners?

This is the way i would do it.
1 make sure door is done up
2 peg down the four corners at the bottom of the wall
3 strech out the four corner guy ropes and peg them down
4 open doorand insert ridge pole.
5 insert end upright then middle then far end
6 insert wall poles and peg down remainder of guy ropes.
7 tighten ropes till all is pretty.

hope that helps..

1. Peg 4 corners
2. Set up outside wall poles, and ropes to outer pegs
3. Slide in ridge pole, set three uprights, and raise each 2' at a time.
4. Rope each end upright to outer peg, and peg remainder of tent.
5. Set up fly/tarp over top. (Helps keep warm and dry)

I set mine up alone all the time.Setting up wall poles first means your not lifting the entire tent weight when setting up ridge pole.

ahhhhhhhhhh.so pegging down the corners is the main thing ...that is making a a lot more sense to me now..
normally im good at figuring this crap out:redface: ..just goes to show ya..we are all not as smart as we think we are..
thanks to all that helped out here and in pm,s..

Puma is right there. putting up the short poles first would make it easier for the rest.
We usually improvise those ones so the tent goes up first then the wall poles as we find/make them.

as well we use home made poles from 2x4. Solid easy to make, and repairable.
