Setting Up AR For A Training Course

Spare bolt is a good idea, but you don't really need a spare carrier.

In all honesty, I've never seen parts break at a class. I've seen plenty of rifles have issues related to mags, ammo and such, but no breakage. Show up with a good rifle in good repair, with basic spare parts, and you should be fine.

If you really want to get through a class with zero drama, bring a VZ.

Thanx Steve.

I have a CSA in 223. Gotta get the machining done to accept AR mags.

I did mean a stock one in 7.62, but as long as it runs.

To clarify what I meant by a "good" rifle, it has nothing to do with brand name or what you spent on it. I should have used the word "proven". You need to know it's reliable.

+1 on the Vickers sling, I love mine!

MagPul shortie foregrip is a nice, reasonably priced option if paired with a CADEX rail to fit your Norc rig stock foregrip. Optics are a plus, consider EOTEC or Trijicon. I run a Trij TR21 amber tri/german picket post reticle 1.5-4 on my shortie and its the bees knees IMHO. If you want a leg up, check out the MagPul carbine vids, practice mag changes and get in as mch range time as you can.

Oh yeah, and HAVE FUN!!! :)

Oh, forgot to say also, if you're thinking of shooting service rifle on the cheap, you might want to also consider the Burris Fullfield E1. Decent glass for the $$ and the reticle will keep you honest out to 400 using 5.56, (500m will be a drop of about -10" or so depending on load).

i would stick with the norinco, thru many posts here it would seem to be a reliable rifle.... load up on magazines and ammo rather then purchase a second gun. have some fun.

I hope to be self sufficient for the classes.

Thanx for the offers. I would have an annerism if I wrecked/damaged someone elses rifle.

They're meant to be used.

And until that happy day when I grow another 8 arms I can't shoot 5 black rifles at the same time.

Thanx guys.

As for optics, the Norinco will keep the carrying handle. The future NEA will have some kind of sites mounted to it. I have 17 AR mags as of now. All aluminum ones. Hoping to get some PMAGs but so far have missed out on the deals for them. Just picked up another 1,000 rounds today. Hope to run both guns and get reliability issues worked out. The Norinco already has my confidence. Have a Ten Speed mag carrier that I got from One Shot Tactical back in the spring. Still un opened as of now....... 2 Vickers slings will be ordered in the next few weeks as my spending slows down.

I wouldn't worry about the Norc. I took one of Earls courses last summer, the only rifle on the line that didn't have a hick up was the Norc.
