Thanks SFRC for bringing these Canuck Evolve 410/45LC revolver shotguns in. Order placed.


Two questions :

1) Since they fire 45LC, are the barrels rifled on these units like TI's SR-45?

2) Since you already carry these adapters in other calibers, would you be able to import "The Shooters Box" .410 to 9mm adapters set? This would make the guns so much more versatile for our market :

I can confirm that the Canuck Evolve "rifle" is NOT rifled!

It's completely shiny smoothbore and doesn't have any provision for chokes either. I wish these things were specified in the item description on the website. None of the vendors who carry the Canuck Evolve actually include those little important details.

45LC is GUARANTEED to keyhole out of those "rifles" and accuracy will undoubtedly be piss poor.


The only things going for it are the looks and also the feel / manoeuvrability. With a Magpul RVG vertical grip and a flashlight, it handles and looks even better. It's definitely a purpose-oriented firearm, as opposed to a multi-caliber SHTF gun. The lack of rifling sucks and takes away 50% of the short "rifle" utility.

That said.... if they could make a .357 or 44 Magnum version, that would be completely redeemable!

This is probably feasible, but the cost would way exceed the value of the whole gun.

After some further research on Taurus Judge revolvers, it turns out that rifling (or semi-rifling, as done on the Judge series) is also a trade-off : Yes you will increase accuracy for 45LC, but you will end up with really horrible patterns for buckshot, birdshot and inaccurate slugs. Rifling and shotgun loads don't play well together. So the smoothbore is actually an advantage if you're using primarily shotgun loads in it - let's not call it a "RIFLE" in the advertisements, though!

It is what it is, I suppose. We will have to live with the smoothbore, until perhaps another version in .357 or 9mm (rifled) comes out, then it will be time to add to the collection!

The best all around load for this particular gun seems to be Federal Self Defense 000 Buck 2.5" 4-pellet, based on my research. It hits hard and patterns very accurately at distance vs. other 410 buckshot. I did a search to see if anyone carries it in Kanukistan and - of course - it's sold out everywhere.

Also, 45LC seems to hit a lot harder than 2.5" .410 1/4 slugs out of these types of guns. It's cheaper to buy too, plus you can reload it. Meaning, it's probably unwise to waste money on 410 slugs when you can shoot 45LC out of these for the same effect (accuracy to be determined).


Overall, it's a nice firearm as long as you're aware of and are okay with its' real-life limitations. The maximum distance for acceptable accuracy out of these should be about 50 yards / meters regardless of what you're shooting, based on testing I saw out of similar configurations. I haven't tested it at the range yet, so can't comment further.
