Hey guys,

This is a video featuring my SG-43 Goryunov Russian WW2 gun. It was developed during WW2 by the Russians and slowly replaced the Russian Maxim machine gun.

years ago when I was buying dewats collectors source used to have the tank version of this gun for $650(had a solenoid instead of the handles). I wasn't really interested to much then but with the wheeled cart man it looks neat. right now I am sad I didn't pay more attention to it.
every one has seen a maxim but how many know about this thing?

It looks like you have the same mount as I have on mine. When you take the gun off and replace the armour plate, you can flip up the tail and the mount rests on the bent tip of the plate and the wheels. In this position you attach the gun to the end of the mount for anti-aircraft firing. Did you take the cleaning brush/caps off your grips or are they missing?

By the way, mine is CA. It's sad I can't shoot it anymore, but it was a real workout as you have to cycle the action manually between shots.

Here is a crappy shot of mine sitting on the floor of my gunroom (bottom left)

Another shot having fun with it in my back yard. My father is the driver. This shows it in the AA position (ready for deer hunting, redneck style)

Wiselite produced a semi auto for a while. No idea if they converted full auto receiver parts into their semi auto builds though which would make them c/a here.

I'd love to get a semi auto version NR here. 7.62x54r is way cheaper than 308 or 30.06 in a browning design. And it would be unique.

I hear you. I had a choice between a Maxim and Goryunov and I chose this one, because I felt it would also have more history to it - being dominant in the Cold War and such.

Thanks for the info. I tried playing around with it for a bit to try and get it in the AA position but I think I'm going to try again now. That's a neat gun room you have by the way!

Very Kool gun..too bad is dewat :( Collector Source has some interesting items, I notice their prices are outrageous esp on NR items they sell.

Poachers in Russia used barrels from that MG for rifles.
Early(smooth) barrel could have been be turned down to fit into receiver of brake action Baikal shotgun kind of like H&R rifles.

There was an article in one of Gun Digest I think about hunting in Siberia, that modification is mentioned there too.

Neat gun.Looks much simpler and lighter than 1910 Maxim it replaced.
