Just wondering I have been studying
it looks like the sig 751 is the same rifle as the famae sg542
Will 751 parts fit 542

No parts are interchangeable except the cocking handle and pistol grip. Even the mags are slightly different. No they are not the same.

No.

Think about it this way...

The 542 is like the original AR10 developed in the 50's. The 751 is like the current generation AR 10's. Similar end products, but one is much more refined as it had a very different development history. As I understand it, the 751 was developed off of the Sig 550 series of rifles, which as we know are based off of the Sig 540 rifles.

751 sapr is far the better one.

how so? if you put them side by side, and run them until they die, how much longer with the 751 last over the Chilean Version? I say 20% maybe 30% at best. The 542 is better value, as you get 80% of the rifle for 50% of the cost. The 542 is a mighty fine rifle, the 751 is more polished, and does use slightly better materials…

It's hard to say in percentage, but here the evolution , sig 530 -1960s ; sig 540 - 1970s ; sig 541-1979 ; sig 550 - 1980s.

751 is more polished, better materials, better sight, better receiver and a better barrel. passed many heavy duty test. certainly a bit more accurate too...

If you want the real best value, just buy a m305 :)

Cheer !

I actually think that FAMAE has better production capabilities than the remnants of Swiss Arms, which is just a skeleton of what it once was.

Bit of a thread revival here. The 542 today is using much better materials than were used in the early production days. I would take a 542 or 751 into battle without any worry over which I grabbed on the way out the door. THe 542's are really that good.

The 542-1 is a damn fine rifle. Wish I could do a side by side comparison over several hundred rounds of the 542 and the 751 :(. However I hope this settles some curiosity of those reading for the 542.

I have a family member who has spent a lot of time in the famae factory and SIG factory in CH and DM as well as the FN factory
s in Belgium as an arms buyer. It's fascinating how much attention to detail....where it matters... is paid to the SG-542. It's no slouch of a rifle. In a battle I can't think of a reason to pick it over a SAN sapr if i could only have one for life it would be the San as they have a little better steel in the springs and slightly better barrel steel that will last a few thousand rounds longer. The finish chips easier on the 542 but that has no bearing on function.
