I have small hands, I'm usually comfortable in an extra small glove. I find the DA trigger too far out as it is so I'll be doing the CGW RRK too.

That being said, thin or palm swell? I understand that most people like the palm swells but they are significantly thicker.

I suggest thin. I have large hands and like the palm swell, but it makes the gun have a pretty large grip. Like on caliber with Shadow 1 + rubber factory grips, or a Beretta 92, or a Tactical Sports with factory wood grips.

I'm confused, didn't you basically answer your own question? lol.

I guess, I just wanted some feedback from people. I suspected any benefit of the palm swell in terms of grip would not overcome the size issue and it seems people agree.

I have small hands as well and went with the Thin Bogies. I'm going to go the same route as you with regards to the CGW RRK. I live in Ontario - do you know a gunsmith that could do this?

I was planning on doing it myself, I’m not sure who would be the first choice to take a shadow to.

Had a discussion about these grips yesterday with someone who took a course with JJ Racazza.
He has a fatter grip on the left side of his gun and a thin on e on the right. Thought being that it makes the gun thinner but helps fill in the empty space on the side of the gun where both palms meet. My friend has the thin bogies and was ordering a set of the palm swells to try it for himself.

Not what you were asking but an interesting thought. Great grips.

The CGW RRK was only good for about 3mm of permanent rearward placement for me. I installed it for my wife with tiny hands, the difference was negligible in her eyes. The reset and single action pre-travel are nice though. I’m also running Lok thins on it. The biggest benefit for her was an 11lb main to reduce the weight of the DA pull.

If you’ve ever taken the trigger out of your shadow, you’re likely capable of installing it yourself. 8569BEAB-A09D-4A39-B928-727EBF880E60.jpg

So my follow up is that I like the thin grips. I am a bit unsure about whether bogie was the right texture, perhaps roughneck or ridgeback would have been coarse enough but will have to give it a try.

I have medium+ hands and still go thin because that’s the proper size. The palm swells are too big except for those with the largest hands. Some people seem to think that comfortable is best. “Proper Fit” is most important, and rarely do they coexist on the same frame.... if you are IPSCing, go Bogie as you can really hold on to fight the recoil.

The texture is agressive.
Is it too aggresive ? Well maybe bare handed when shooting 115gr, its borderline...
But hey, I better like shooting the smoother 124gr and 147gr ammo ( my S2 likes heavier bullets anyway ).

I would not choose bogies grip on a very light/snappy pistol tho...

Here's mine :
