Hi Guys

Looking for any mods to my shadow 2 staying in the Canadian IPSC production class regulations and without going to nuts with ammo primers and reloading weights issues.

Thanks

The Shadow 2 is already one of the most competitive pistol money can buy right now. You can replace the grips. Besides that, there's not much you can do.

Lower your mainspring down to 13lb. That will keep it reliable still and lower your da pull down at least 1lb
Most people lower the main spring also to 11 or 13 but that's preferance

Almost Completely wrong. Maybe you should read the rule book

I have it specifically states that you can only change parts with OFM parts that are standard or as an option. And that only minor detailing to said parts for proper fitment is allowed. It doesn't say hey to replace what ever spring with what ever companies you want.

So...how do you read that and come to the conclusion that you “are not supposed to change parts”??

You can change any parts you want as long as it’s OFM.

And I’m not even commenting on the stupidity of not being able to use aftermarket springs (which is completely unprovable in a match and often enough OFMs use those same third party springs on their guns)

Sorry I misspoke in regards to can't change any parts, my point still stands in regards to changing out for lighter springs (lighter than available from factory) it's not in the spirit of why the division was made.

"In the spirit"? Exactly what does that mean?
There is a ruleset to stay in production. As long as you work within that ruleset you can shoot production.
So far I haven't heard about anyone being penalized for not staying "in the spirit". Half the fun of IPSC is pushing the rules to the max.

IPSC is making drastic changes to the rules for production can now use aftermarket internal parts including trigger parts. First pull must still be 5lbs but if your gun fails that as long as every pull is greater then 3lbs your good. Seems to me that they are catering to striker fired guns ie glock to make them more competitve. You can now put a aftermarket trigger in your glock as long as pull is greater then 3lbs its production legal. no more dealing with DA/SA. Although now with this rule set you will see DA/SA guns with 5.5lb DA and 1.5lb SA so tuff call.

we've had guns with triggers barely over 5lbs for like, what, 18 years now? And SA's anywhere from 2lbs down to less than 1.5lbs for just as long too. All with factory springs and parts. so really, this rule is only going to make it cheaper and easier to obtain that for those in some countries. The big change is that you won't have to care where your spring came from and so on. The bigger change is as mentioned above, 3lb for constant action guns, that is a huge difference, whether it will impact the actual showing of guns in the division remains to be seen. I don't think it will though, not in any meaningful way, because if striker guns were soooooo awesome, they'd be dominating the other divisions where you can do anything you want, and outside of Bob Vogel and a couple others, they aren't represented much at all.

as for mods,

the gun should come with the Pre B disco installed, if you want a shorter reset and overtravel, then get one of the 2,1 or 0 discos from Robin Sebo, if you want a nicer weight, get the 10lb hammer spring, or an 11lb if you find it doesn't set off your primers. I also recommend the 9 or 10lb recoil spring, along with the supplied shockbuff. Beyond that, do some polishing of internals, wherever they show wear, and you should be good to go.

I am also very interested in this topic. I just got my Shadow 2 and after shooting couple hundred rounds I am loving it. I do feel there is some room for improvement. I am mainly interested in lowering the trigger pull to the minimum requirement for IPSC Production. I am thinking of something along the lines of 13lb mainspring, 11lb recoil and competition hammer. Can you experienced shooters out there give me some advice. Are the changes legal? Should I change more or change less? Do I need certain parts to make this work? I am new to IPSC. Thanks all.

I'm currently running:
10lb mainspring
8lb recoil
reduced power firing pin spring
standard shock buffer (still on the original one)
Wide competition hammer
Pre-B disco
Wide left & right safety levers
All internal contact parts polished

I run CCI primers with 100% ignition. I compared my reset with the pre-b disco to my buddy's stock disco and there's a noticeable difference. She's quite a flat shooter with Campro 147gr @ 129PF ammo.

I don't know how some S2 owners are getting 5.5-6lb DA pull with a 13lb or even 11.5lb mainspring. I'm about 6.5lb with a 10lb main. At half-####, I get the 5.5lb pull but not from a full DA.

I kinda want a second S2 to give me project so I could tinker with again. Maybe make it into a Standard Div pistol.

Any recommendation on main spring weight for Dominion Arms primer?

Thanks
