Shadow 2 reliability issues

A 1/16” punch will be good. Gentle taps are all that’s required, and you’ll see plenty of videos on youtube. :)

While doing this, put the gun in a plastic bag in case something goes flying.

Oops, too late; anyway glad it's working!!!

My experience has been that with FTE's the extractor spring is the weak spot.
I've replaced mine a couple of times already...
Once a fresh spring is installed the pistol will run fine for 1000's of rounds, but... The spring will fail again, eventually.

Odd - I’m about 40,000 rounds, and using the original extractor spring.

I started having an issue with failures to eject on my SP-01 Shadow awhile back and it turned out it was my extractor hanging up. I removed the extractor and cleaned it right out and I've put about a 1000 rounds through it without a single problem since. I'm shooting 124 gr factory ammo btw. Federal and S&B

message me. I'll be at Abby Friday and Saturday night as well as Sunday day (workbee on indoor range). I'll bring my tool kit and spare parts and take a look at what you've got going on.

So I just got back from another trip to the range and the extraction issues have returned unfortunately. I really thought I had it fixed after cleaning the extractor. I'm going to try an extra power spring next week, fingers crossed.

No offense please, but could it be your technique? I know that new shooters sometimes have extraction issues on account of "limp wristing"

No offense taken! Yes, it could be my technique. Actually I hope that's what it is haha. But I will say that I watch a lot of videos on proper grip and technique, and I try to shoot in a slow and methodical fashion. I also have some lok grips on it now which are much better than the stock ones. I also do quite a bit of dry firing.

This is the video that I've taken my grip technique from..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=688tyvWxaYg

Does case stay in chamber thus extraction issue or it's an ejection issue?

I had both, extraction and ejection issue with my Shadow I when it was new, had to massage ejector and extractor to get it working 100%.

Case was definitely still in the chamber on all of my malfunctions today.

Is there a chunk out of the casings where the extractor grabs it? My new 226 takes a chunk out of the odd al case and Fte. So I stopped using al on that gun, it runs flawless with brass. My cz 75 is flawless with all cases, but it’s got like 10,000 thru it.

Is the case completely in the chamber, (like it was ready to be fired), or sitting at an angle, trying to come out?

It's usually either completely in the chamber or part way out I believe.

I've never noticed a chunk out of the case but I've only ever fired brass through this gun.

I’ve got the CZ SP01 Shadow line and the Shadow 2. After many thousands of rounds on both, never had a single extraction issue. However, when I received my Shadow 2 when they came out a number of years ago, it was either missing the barrel bushing, or it fell out. After a year of no success with Grech, who initially had the warranty contract, CZ thankfully changed their warranty service to Wolverine and they replaced the whole gun! Can’t say enough good things about Wolverine generally but this was another example, so you should definitely talk to them as CZ’s don’t normally do this. Good luck, must be frustrating.
