so, I grabbed an Urban grey, number 49 (still wish it was 20 higher...)
First thing I did was install a competition hammer. Obviously these early guns have different hammers than what I used overseas this summer, the hooks on the stock hammer were massive and covered basically 3/4 of the sear making for a very creepy SA. DA is and was excellent once the overtravel screw was adjusted. Also tossed the 17lb (seriously guys???) hammer spring and put in a nice 11.5lb hammer spring. Tada, beauty trigger now.
Went through 200 rounds at class tonight demoing drills and got to see a flinch now and then as the Russian primers didn't always detonate with the lighter spring (used to that, it's practice ammo for a reason), they did go off on the 2nd hit though, I will not count that against the gun at all. I will install a lighter firing pin spring though, as the one in it is also heavier than previously seen in my Shadowmates.
And I stripped the mag catch screw. I wanted to adjust the button to the highest position, used the right sized Torx driver and it just spun the edges out of the screw leaving it with a nice round hole. Robin is bringing me some spare screwes next week in Moscow.
So, yeah, me, annoyed.
Oh and I installed an 11lb recoil spring too. gun runs great with the 147s.
Sear cage is not as tight as the guns I played with in Europe either and they over fit the safety, so the right side safety has a bit of flop to it. Will be getting new ones of both from CZ and will fit myself.
Compared to a regular Shadow this is still a massive step up, but compared to the Shadowmate the fitting is not quite as good, which is to be expected. The slide/barrel/frame fit is as good though, just not the safeties or sear cage.
