Both my shadow`s don`t like cast bullets, everything tumbles even at 7 yds. Jacketed no problems. I`m using Titegroup, with various bullet weights. Been told I have too much crimp so I loaded some 147`s with my supposedly heavy crimp and some with the die backed off 90 degrees bordering on no crimp whatsoever. Still the same problem. I have a real hard time thinking it`s the powder. I also sized and lubed this test batch at .3565 thinking that might help. Nope. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

try DRG 135 3.4/3.6 TG , my shadow likes 124, 135 , 147 , in lead or plated equally well . are these your own cast , did you slug the barrel ? .002 os is still well within reason for cast . thumbling @ 7yds is hard to see happening .

Sorry but why in today's time are you shooting lead anyway? Good plated bullets are fairly cheap.

It must be that the cast bullets are too small. Over crimping is only bad for plated bullets.

"...everything tumbles..." Undersized buulets or oversized barrel. Highly unlikely to be the latter. Unlubed/improperly cast bullets tumble too.

i size my 9mm bullets (well i only have 1 meant for 9mm @ 135gr) are sized to .357" and shoot them out of a glock. i have also use 110 gr bullets sized to .358" without issue as well.

i suspect .358 would be a bit much for the cz'd though.

Are you using that Lee die that resizes the loaded round, it is known to make cast bullets undersize after loading. All you need for 9mm is a slight taper crimp, just enough to remove the slight flare from the bullet seating.

Thank`s for the input folks, no I didn`t slug the barrel, that was next on the list, I also have a 358 sizer I`ll try. No I don`t use the Lee crimper, I`m using a 550. Yup, plated would be the way to go but when your garage is a toxic waste dump, well I guess I better use the stuff.
