Anyone have dealings with Shadow Force in Calgary? I was trying to find a place where I could do some courses and came across these guys. I did a general google search and on the forums but can't find much

I did. Hung around long enough to know I didn't want to hang around anymore. They were associated with Calgary Shooting Centre, but no longer. They then moved on to Red Deer SC, however I have seen that Agoge Tactical has started running courses at RDSC, which infers that Shadow is no longer affiliated there either as generally you don't have competing schools in the same house.

Shadow force hey? Are they the ones offering the 3 day keyboard warrior course?

Don't need that course. I'm already a grand master ;)

Agreed 'Shadow force" sounds like some B action movie but I know the basics of shooting I would just like some proper training.

Thanks for the replies

thanks! I've just found these guys and an old post recommending them on Canadian Gun nutz. They are not too far away from Calgary - does anyone have experience of transporting restricted firearms to another range in a different province or does the RCMP frown upon that?

Within your province your ATT is covered now by your PAL thanks to C42. Going to another province you just need to get an ATT from that province's CFO. They will likely ask about your storage plans while in the province.

Back when Shadow Force first started up I took their precision rifle and tactical pistol courses. Both great courses, but both courses also had fantastic instructors; and that's the lesson here. It is far less important who's name is on the website than it is who is actually instructing the course. I would take courses with either of these instructors again in a heartbeat.

Now that said, I don't believe either of them currently instruct through Shadow Force and one of them is now the Chief Instructor at Calgary Shooting Centre. If you want basic pistol, carbine or shotgun, and are in the Calgary area, I would highly recommend calling CSC and seeing what they have coming up for courses.
