Shadow sp-01 - does this look bnib to you ?

Looks pretty new to me. They test fire them at the factory. Polymer guide rod is standard on the SP-01. Your buddy's SP-01 Shadow did not come with a stainless guide rod from the factory.

As far as how the chamber looks... I could compare it to mine when I get home from work.

Sure does, its been racked a few times that is all from the looks of it. Oh and proofing of course per the target that should be in the box. Have fun with your new gun and count on performance to improve over the first few hundred rounds with break in.

I can guarantee pic #5,6 are absolutely normal, the breech face sometimes needs to be filed manually (for CZ, it's usually in 2 & 10 o'clock position if you look from chamber) to ensure a tight fit when the barrel is locked up with frame. I checked several brand new Shadow 1 & 2, some have this kind of "grind" marks and some do not, hope this makes you happy.

I also picked up a shadow during the recent sale and just received it today.
My recoil spring was the same as the OP and is a round wire spring and not the flat spring. ( same bent plastic guide rod as well)
Maybe CZ has phased out the flat wire recoil spring?

Yes they have. Because the flat spring like I pictured, will not work with the stainless guide rods. My older SP01 still has the flat spring, but the replacement are coil. Nothing wrong with the plastic guide rod. Ive put like 5000rds and haven't had issues.

Thanks for the response! I ran 350 flawless rounds through it this morning and I think I am in love.

Looks new to me. Remember, pistols are tested before leaving the factory. Handfitting might also be required due to manufacturing differences. The ring in the barrel is not from a gun fired at least a hundred rounds. It might be because of the bushing touching the barrel as t was test fired few rounds. Fired 100 rds and over will make the ring more visible.

That unfinished dark barrel can be polished up to a beautiful silvery shine with a bit of 400 grit sandpaper, followed by some 1000 grit paper.

I did mine, at least for the area that shows when the slide is forward. Looks great.

it is a shadow 1. ain't high quality piece. Been making Cz75 since 1972 with the same machines and they are rough inside.

If you wanted perfect machining, the aswer is CZ shadow 2. New tooling was purchased for these and it shows when you see inside.
