shall I break-in barrel during first shooting?

will bring my handgun to range for the first time this evening. Shall I break-in the barrel after 1st group?

I know it is quite improtant for rifle but not quite sure about handgun. It is my fist handgun and my indoor shooting club is alwasy over crowded, I don't want make people behind me think I am wasting their time for something unnecessary.

By the way, I am planning to fire 150 round tonight, is it too many?

Shoot it, then clean it at home afterwards. Barrel break in is a questionable procedure at best on a precision rifle, worthless on a handgun.

150 rounds of centrefire ammo is even normal for a long time shooter with a family and a budget. Make your rounds count, learn your gun and have fun.

Shoot it as much as you like. You will probably do more damage cleaning it more then you ever will by shooting it.

I don't really too warry about my gun, it is just a tool less than $900 incl. tax.
