I always pack my 2 pounds camera in my daypack while hunting. Even if my GPS and phone have 8+ megapixel cameras.
I am sending the message to mother nature that I want nice photos.
Works sometimes.
And I have more success when I let go my desire to have successfull hunt. When I kind of resign, ....crack ! There is the moose !

Lots of people have ideas about the best time of day to hunt etc.
but after many years of hunting, I've determined that the best two times to hunt are just before you get there, and right after you leave.

Like, Game will most likely show up when you're eating a sandwich....this actually might be true
or
I only carry 7 rounds in my right pocket for good luck.

Yup, for a couple years, as soon as anyone in our group would start to eat something, deer would show up.

Never ever shoot a Raven,
they are sacred , and if you shoot one the others put a bad luck spell on you
I strongly believe some kinda jinx happens every time some one in my hunting party shoots a raven

Only one superstition, if I do not obey the Wildlife Regs and laws, I will have a poor season. I am anal in regards to the laws, unload my firearm right at last light,
only load after legal light when walking in. If I follow these two rules, I eat venison and grouse, if I am off by only a couple of minutes then I eat beef, chicken and pork.
Sounds silly, but for me that is the way it works. Always has. It is like the hunting gods are sitting on my shoulder and watching.

I am a firm believer that if I don't take my gun with me when I go hunting..i won't shoot anything.
LOL, I wear a special emblem
I have carried many rifles over the years but all of my moose have been shot with the one that my dad gave me so many years ago. Most of the others have been sold off now and when I moose hunt I know I will not see game if I am carrying any other rifle.
