I went out after work yesterday evening to check the usual hunting fields and of course brought my .308 Parker hale with me. I parked in the middle relaxing taking in the nice weather scouting for any wild boars that may still be around. I was glassing the edges and approx 800 yards away a coyote comes scooting out of the bush into the feild adjacent to the one I am in so I watched ( sitting in the open ) he was making his way to the feild I was in so after about 15 minutes he finally made it to the edge north of me about 300-400 yards. Finally he was broad side I lined up with my fixed 4 scope. Held over about what I thought was a foot. Let it fly............... Scared the bejeezes right out of him ( missed ) You would not beleive how fast he made it to the bush line another 300 yards north. Never even fired another shot as original was a wishfull thinking. I look back now and say should have brought the .270 parker hale with the 3x9 on top. I just could not beleive he actually came in the feild with me standing by the ATV out in the open like that.
Info I failed to mention was the field I was in was my neighbors and I was protecting his newborn calves. I like to help him out when I can.
