Sharon IDPA 3-Gun Match April 8

Yep it is getting close. I am setting up Friday afterwork (everything except the paper targets). Saturday morning the paper gets stapled up and the match begins.

My belt is really heavy with 4 pistol pouches, 5 rifle pouches and 2 California Strippers for the shotgun shells. Suspenders are definitely required!

To get to Sharon:

From the 401 come north on the 404 to the end.

Turn right onto Green lane and continue east - the name of the road changes to Herald Rd. When you get to Kenedy turn left and the entrance to the range is immediately on your right.
thanks ill be there

yeah, sold the AR.

looking at a new Oly Arms 9mm or Storm now....deciding.

Musky - Should have mentioned to you last night that I have a 9mm Storm you could borrow if you would like to shoot this match... I am going to shoot my AR. I only have two mags through for the Storm as the rest have been sent back to Stoeger as they were declared evil. However I think 2 mags should be enough based on what I know of this match.

well it was an intresting shoot thats for sure
hope you do that again.
One think i will say is that nexed time you GOT TO have squad times, as most of us were so cold by the time we shot that we could not move are hands.
One thing, i messed up on was only being able to shoot x target from x barrier, i,m not used to that at all.
Had no prob with the shoot your gun dry stuff or shooting on the move.
sure glad i have me weesach vest :) as it really woked well when it came to having all that ammo on me.

I stopped by for a few minutes after doing the shotgun match on range 6. It looked pretty fun. All I need now is my Black Badge and an AR. :( Oh well maybe next year.

Boy was that course long though. Did Lou end up winning it? I have to wonder if being the course designer might have helped a smidge ;) Just kidding, that dude's sick with a shotgun or a rifle in his hands.

Well Done Lou and company

I enjoyed participating in the three gun match today. The sun was out but it was still darn cold while waiting our turns to shoot. Met some real gunznutz today and matched some faces to the handles. All in all it was a fun match and thanks once again for all your work in putting on the match. Looks like I am hooked on shooting IDPA style matches with 3 guns. Yea haw!!
Mikey:)

It was my first IDPA match & it was interesting with the different rules from
IPSC.
I haven't seen the results yet, but with the surprise rule of no walk thrus, I do think anyone who helped set up, should either not compete or shoot for the fun of it, but score can't count, as they'd have a huge time advantage & even scoring, as a oh there it is shooter may not place there shot as accurate then someone who knew where to go and ready for it.

That said, I had a blast & wish it didn't take so long, & would of been cool if we could of shot it again for fun factor & just to see how you'd do knowing where the targets are.

It was good of the RO to help guide you thru it, but also, confusing system, as you shouldn't need it. How would someone know if they should proceed all the way to the back of the range ?

That said, it's definately fun & will shoot IDPA again :)

I will be scoring the match results all together. You can ignore the top ones if you like.

You will find though that once you get the hang of these matches that you dont stand around lolly gagging and crouching, you keep moving and shoot what you see. I have had the fortune to have shot 30 or more suprise course of fire. Watch an experienced IDPA shooter go through a course of fire, they don't drag their a$$.

Try to set up such a match yourself and see how tough it is. Several Sharon IDPA regulars knew what to do because they have shot these matches before. Also, many matches end with shooting over a barricade.

There is enough work to set up the match. I don't need the hassle of sign-up sheets.

Lou,
I enjoyed the match very much so :)! I guess it does take a bit of getting use to that style. I do look forward to another.
I shot it more for fun than to score well, for now ;)

In IDPA is meant to practice practical defensive pistol (and shotgun /rifle) the score in the grander scheme of things is irrelavant. Now think if you had to use this skill in real life whether would you be able to apply the skill to real life or not? The measure with each match is whether you feel you are improving.

very true.
But there were things that i did at that match that i did not do in the real world.
but like the rest of the new guys , i,m very intrested in doing more so i can learn more.

Then maybe you learned something that you should or not do... but the match gave you the knowledge to make the distinction.

Hey Lou, I don't give a Rats Ass what other smucks think, I would like to thank you for putting on such a fabulous Match, and I belive that I speak for all of those who shot the match. To hell with the critics, they should put up and design a match for all to participate like you did, or shut the F#@k up.

Job well done.

I had a great time as well. I was teetering on going to IDPA and now I know that I will pursue the training. ;)

I had a lot of fun and if there is another I will make the trip from Kingston again. :)

Well done Lou.

yes your right it did.
All i,m saying is that so far ive shot one match and i found it very intresting but it still seems to me to be set up like a game a "sport" if you will.
But i,m sure interested in doing it some more, asit seems to be more "real life " then IPSC

Hey man, who the hell you calling a smuck? & who is critisizing the match ?
the few comments BBB & myself made are basically just thinking out loud about the match, as we're just learning it & are being broken in to this style of shootiing. We've mentioned that we enjoyed & are looking forward to another match. So stop taking are comments to hard, they weren't meant to put down IDPA. It's just fun gun talk between friendly gunnutz.:)

I even shook Lou's hand before leaving & thanked him for a great match & for the fun I had.

so take a chill pill man :p & look forward to shoot'n with ya all again :)

Hey nobody is a shmuck. Let's not get out of hand here.

IDPACONVERT is just pissed because he helped set up (a lot of heavy lifting) and didn't get to shoot it in the end.
