sharon matches

You should also know by now that my stages are based around hypothetical scenarios in which a pistol may be used in a practical manner.

Seriously? I really wanna hear the actual scenario for one of your stages where we had to shoot the same 3 targets trough 3 different ports. Was it about some kind of magical zombies that die only after you shoot them from 3 different sides? :D

3 medium stages would be 13..24 * 3 = 39..72 rounds. I kinda like 72 more then 39.

And yet...if a MD decides to do a club level match on a Tuesday night with classifiers only....some ipsc members jump and down screaming bloody murder if they can't attend because we only (hypothetically) want club members to get classified....and (hypothetically) we have to stay later to accommodate said hair pullers....(hypothetically) of course....and these jumping up and down hair pullers (hypothetically) drive way more than the 120 kms they are complaining about on this thread).....hypothetically of course!

Wow...I am glad I am not bitter..otherwise this whole situation would bother me!

You perfectly know that this is entirely different case. Like you said, people want to get classified and if you want to run a sanctioned match it has to be open to all members, not only members of your club... It is not like we are shooting for free.

What is your point??

Well the El prez was a defensive drill that requires you to reenage targets because 2 each is not enough to neutralize, why is doing that while moving behind cover such an issue for you?

3 medium stages in the past was a maximum of 16 rounds each, not 24 you can't confuse what was done in the past with a rule set we have only had for 3 months.

I don't design stages around round counts. I design stages and see what type of stage it becomes, if it happens to fit in a short, medium or long course so be it, but I never design a course thinking I have to max a round count for each type.

What is your point??

My point would be...is there is a double standard....either an ipsc shooter will drive 120km+ for a $5 club level classifier....and demand that they be included...and show up late (hypothetically of course)...and miss the walk through and then demand to have the walk through).....but they won't support a closer club for putting on a legitimate match...level 1 match because it is too far away(all hypothetically of course)...I am not directing this at you Peter...this is all being directed at a hypothetial IPCS that seems to want his/her own way all the time.....(hypothetically of course....if some mythical ashhole jerk mouthpiece actually exists)

Like I said....I am not bitter....but will always fight against the (hypothetical) ipsc shooter.

Craig,
My idea of IPSC is to stay strong together and work out our differences in a manly manner. I have no issues whatsoever with any matches and God Bless all the organizers. I will support any shooting that includes IDPA, Bullseye, 3Gun, Benchrest, F-Class, Vintage, ... well except black powder :)
I think we all make mistakes on the way to IPSC Pantheon :) but if I can, I will have my opinion on certain issues. I like (in IPSC) high round count, I just love shooooting, squeezing the trigger and will always support more, matches which are run around higher round count. I also try to help out as much as I can to promote safe shooting, mostly with pistols.
Shooting is good, we need more shooting and if someone chooses to spend 30-40 bucks on gas to shoot low count match good for him, but it doesn't cut for me anymore.

Peter..

I am in 110% agreement with you....if you ever need any help at all putting on a match, or any help at all with ROing...please don't hesitate contact me. You helped us out at EESA and it would be my pleasure to return the favour!

And again that's exactly what we are hoping for, we are not asking folks to drive 120km to attend, we are hoping they won't and give our club members a chance to shoot a match.

No demand there. Just expectations that club would play by the same rules as everyone else when running a sanctioned match. But it seem like some clubs believe they are better then the other. Good thing they are not putting on IPSC matches anymore, so we don't have to expect anything.

It'll be nice if our club starts charging a $10 or $15 guest fee ...that will keep our club matches open

You can charge whatever the hell you want for your own club matches, but you can't discriminate match fees for sanctioned IPSC matches based on the club membership.

Rather than complaining about matches that you feel are not to your standards, don't shoot the match. There are always many people on the waiting list that would appreciate shooting the match!

There is nothing stopping our club from charging guests a fee before they are allowed to use our facilities. Its not discrimination, after all gun clubs are PRIVATE sporting facilities. Everyone would still be paying the same match fee

Not saying it will come to this, but if I show up on a club night and can't shoot because non-members have taken up all the spots, you can bet I will be saying something

We are NOT discussing PRIVATE events here. So, your comment is irrelevant.

Again, the topic of this conversation is public sanctioned IPSC matches. So, there is can't be discrimination between club and non-club members for such matches.

You purposely misconstrue his intent. All club facilities are private not public. As such the club may charge or not charge as they see fit for non members entering their private facility. This would have nothing to do with IPSC. The IPSC group then charges for participation in their sanctioned match.

And you are misconstrue club affiliation with IPSC. If club want to stay affiliated and host sanctioned matches, those matches have to be equal for club members, as well as to non-members. So, there can't be any "as they see fit", but by all means please feel free to tell your club rep to bring this up at the next club rep meeting.
