I'm not much of a pistol guy but I thought some of you would like to see this. It belongs to a guy my father works with. Sharps 1859 pepperbox. Its a .22 cal, .22lr drops into the chamber without engraving the rifling but I think it would have been chambered for .22 short as the long rifle cartridge did not yet exist at that time. It has a revolving firing pin that works much like a revolver's cylinder. The hammer will not set and the finger that advances the firing pin is so badly worn that the firing pin needs to be turned a little to get the finger to engage it. The grips and grip screw are definitely not original and not well done at all. Its a very cool little pistol indeed. Can anyone tell me more or correct me on anything Ive gotten wrong?
And before anyone asks, it is not for sale!
