Sharps 40-50 BN.......

In the book; "Shooting Lever Guns of the Old West", by Mike Venturino, he has some data for the .40-60 Winchester and used a Rapine # 403225 moulds to cast bullets for it.
He also mentions the Lyman #410610 mould to cast 0.408" at 215 grains using a 1/20 alloy.
He also shows a DKT 210 grain jacked soft point bullet.

I order my gear from buffalo arms in the states, they carry the various types of 40-50 sharps reloading dies for antique and modern guns, as well as moulds.

Be aware, they're not exactly giving them away, you can try to cut out the middle man and contact CH4D dies as well.

Thanks for the replies. Nobody has really answered the questions I had though. I have to read between the lines and surmise that no one in Canada has one, loads for one etc. Buying anything from the USA is almost impossible. Suppliers there take the easy road. Dave

Most information is interchangeable between black powder straight and bottleneck cartridges, i.e. .40-50SS and .40-50BN
The US found when testing .45-70 type cartridges, that bottle neck cartridges produced a higher presser for the same bullet and powder load.
