Yeah, I know..sounds dirty...

Frustrating time for me yesterday while turkey hunting. First I get busted by a group of four hens and a decent gobbler, apparently they didn't read the game plan and showed up from a totally unexpected direction.

After realizing the error of my ways, I repositioned myself in the middle of a thicket, between the fencelines that made me virtually impossible to be seen.
An hour goes by and I spot a solitary turkey, through the tall grass coming at me diagonally. Bright red head, large rounded body, barrel chest. Put the binos on him when he was about 60 yds out and even saw a prominent snood (thanks Google) on the beak. He stops maybe 40 yds away and puffs up, shiny, glistening feathers in the bright sunlight. Damn, he had it all....all but a beard that is....

Man that sucks, wonder how many other hunters other than me, passed up on him. In the world of Tom turkeys his birth defect is a real lifesaver.

That sucks, keep trying, they can't bust you everytime. And yes, I do hate it when they don't read the game plan and come in from a totally unexpected direction and bust ya.

Nice bird you got there sawatzky!

Concealment as you probably know is very important, not that you're Tom would have noticed, seing that he had no brain and all....:D Good job!

I commend you for following the regulations as a lot of turkey hunters would not pass just because it was a Tom...
