:dancingbanana: My Remington model 700 Sendero SF II arrived today and I spent an hour or so tonight cleaning her. Then I installed and lapped Leupold dual dovetail mounts/rings and topped her off with a Leupold VX II 6-18x40AO.:dancingbanana:
Can YOU guess what calibre she is chambered for??? ;)

its a remington doesnt matter what calibre it still wont shoot as good as a savage :p LOL

Nice looking gun you have there defintly will do the job well and look good at it

Hi,

Just a quick question;

Is it O.K. to store your firearms barrel down?

Don't know why, but i always heard to store barrel up. Maybe to prevent crown damage.

Well seeing how as your living in Ontario and you've got a coyote cut out there....my educated guess would be that it is chambered in the 264 Win Mag which is only available as of 2006 in the Sendaro II with the black fluting on the barrel and new tactical style HS stock with dual front studs. Oh ya, most of southern Ontario is under a caliber restriction of 270 or less....thats why 264 Win Mag which is 6.5mm. What do I win????????

Are you serious? I'm guessing that's a hunting reg, not a provincial 'general' rule?

Any rationale behind that? Is a .270 'nicer' to the deer when you shoot them? Sorry for the hijack, but I've never heard of that before!

nice rifle man, congrats.
I would love to own Sendero, but do not like the cartridge selction.
Remington should follow Savage and make one in 6.5-284 or .308Win (1-12") in Sendero.

Its Boney's, but Im pretty sure I've handled that gun at a store in Ontario.
I was thinking about it too LOL

I doubt you handled this one as it came from Winnepeg(NIB).
Yes it is in 264WinMag.
As far as the muzzle down thing I think its just a preference thing, and as long as they are not standing on concrete they should be fine.I've had no issues.
Mine are standing on a piece of channeled cedar with multiple layers of felt and usually several rags to sop up oil.
Signguy, there is a Savage(heavy) in there aswell mixed with afew Wins and even a Sako (not mine).Thought it was time to put a bolt action Rem in there and mix it up a little more.
There is also a M-70 featherweight NIB going in there tonight aswell.(I phoned home and the wife said she had picked up a parcel that was bigger than the scope I was expecting)
I'll have to move afew out into the "second drawer" cabinet and make some more room.
Sorry, no prizes but, some brilliant deductions by the people who guessed correctly!

It is a hunting reg. The areas under the restriction have no bear or moose season and no rifle season for deer (bow, shotgun or muzzle loader only). The restriction specifically applies to small game so I guess the rationale might be 270 is enough gun for coyotes.

BTW, nice rig Boney.

It actually dates back to the return of the troops from WWII with their 30 cals rifles. The built up areas with high populations didn't want rifles being shot all over the place so they instituted the cal restriction to keep the GI's from dicharging the rifles they brought home with them close to towns. At least this is the story I heard!

There was the exact same rifle at accuracy plus... closer than WPG for you...

No way! I haven't been there in a while but it wasn't that long ago.
When was it there?
Is it still there?
Guess I better get out more often.

Oh well ,turns out the place I got it from had the best price(and I checked many, all of who'm never had any or had any expected). One hundred and ninety-four dollars cheaper than Bass Pro (who didnt have any)before taxes.

I'll get in there and spend some dough on re-loading components to make up for not buying there....Maybe tomorrow...I have the day off.:)

Are you refering to the 3 coyote cutouts in the pic???- 3 headed dog of Hades-Cerberus

Confession: I had to ask my wife about this Cerberus..........She is much more clever than I.
Remington was bought last week by a private equity firm - Cerberus Capital Management.
